Chereads / HIS MY NEIGHBOR / Chapter 3 - The Lies

Chapter 3 - The Lies

Rose's POV"

Hi my name is Rose William's, I'm not too tall and neither not too short, I have long black hair, light skin in complexion and I have a decent shape one may say I have a pear shape body type, and here's my story.

I often wonder what would happen if Harry ever discovered the truth – the first time we started talking, I lied to him. Even now, I would still lie if he had an inkling about my deception. It wasn't a significant fabrication, just a small white lie. To put it simply, I lied because I was excessively shy back then. When I reflect on that moment, I realize my actions were indeed deceitful. But who can I blame? I thought he had ignored me initially.

Let me continue from where I left off. I waited anxiously for a week after sending Harry a message and deleting it immediately. I patiently waited to see if he would respond, constantly checking my phone. A week passed, and my curiosity got the better of me. Why was I so invested? I merely had a crush on him; I didn't genuinely like him. Yet, I held onto hope that he might text me. And then, he did – a week later.

"Hey, sorry for the late reply; I wasn't online for a while. By the way, who's this?" His message sent my heart racing. He actually replied! What should I do? What should I say? Should I reveal myself or pretend it was a wrong number? Fear gripped me.

After agonizing minutes, I decided to deceive him: "Oo sorry wrong number, what I mean to say is my friend gave me the wrong number. Sorry for the inconvenience." There you have it – my first lie. I couldn't muster the courage to tell him the truth: I obtained his number from my best friend Elena Samuel, his former classmate.

Elena had transferred to my school in the 11 grade to my school we quickly became friends and then bestfriend, during our time together I had asked her if she knew Harry Davison and she did, he was here classmate and I had asked Elena to help me get his number when I discovered their connection. She inquired about his contact information from her friends since she wasn't close with Harry at the time. When school resumed, Elena shared his number and told me she had chatted with him, asking if he knew me. His affirmative response filled me with joy that he knew me.

It seemed like fate that my best friend knew him. Harry replied, "Oh ok," and I continued the charade, asking, "Who are you, too, if I may ask?" Why did I say that? It was an unnecessary question.

He then inquired if I knew Elena, and I confirmed. "Rose, right?" he asked, catching me off guard. "Ya, but how did you know?" I responded, trying to maintain the facade.

"Your profile picture," he replied, and I felt exposed. He revealed that Elena had told him I would text and mentioned my fondness for anime.

I replied, "Oo, it's you . Sorry, my bad. Elena had previously given me many wrong numbers, saying they were you , so I thought this one was also incorrect."

Half of that statement was true; Elena had mistakenly given me wrong numbers before, but this time she confirmed it was the right one.

We started discussing our shared interests, favorite theme songs, and movies. As a DC enthusiast, I discovered he was a Marvel fan, but we respected each other's differences.

That night, we bid each other goodnight, marking the beginning of our conversations. Little did Harry know, I had lied to him for the first time – but not the last.
