Chapter 1 - Quest 01: Awakening in another world.

"Ngh!?"

A voice cried out. "Argh, my head." Writhing in pain the originator of the voice woke up.

"Hmm, Where am I?" the speaker sat in an upright position withstanding the massive headache. Looking around the room, an old styled house. Medieval era style, wooden desk, bed. Not an ounce of the modernisity to it.

"Ngh" To alleviate the pain the speaker tried to cares his head but something stopped him and he hastily let go. "!?" A sharp pain, no it wasn't painful per say more sensitive to put it into words. A hard feeling to explain.

"What was that?" He tried doing it again. Touching his head only for it to be stopped again by something. The object was long, warm and had the texture of skin. " What the f*ck!! Why are my ears so long!" the speaker cried out.

Noticing his hand the speaker was alarmed even more. His rugged thick arms which had be cultivated from countless hours of work were now small, pale and dainty.

"Oi! Oi! Oi! This can't be happening." Touching him all over in haste. A round face face, an immature torso, thin legs. It was as he feared.

"I've been isekaied... NOOOO!!!."

The door creaked opened as he screamed revealing a dark green haired woman with the same type of ears he has carrying a large bowl of water.

The moment she laid eyes on him her face beamed with happiness.

"Elwin you're up!" Setting aside the bowl she rushed towards him and gave him a hug with a force so strong that he felt like he was getting crushed.

…

.

"Are you alright sweaty, does it hurt any where, are you hungry?" Multiple questions where asked in quick succession by the green-haired woman as she lightly pat the speaker- no Elwin in various places.

"Dear one question at a time, just look at his face he looks like he's seen a ghost." A chuckle came from a young looking man with blonde hair and red eyes with long ears also.

"Rawls you know you shouldn't be laughing at a time like this!" The green-haired glared daggers at Rawls. Seeing his wife's fury Rawls quickly pled for forgiveness while holding up his hands. "I'm sorry Elowen , but give him some space to breath at least."

"Humph." She gave a pout refocusing her attention on Elwin.

But Elwin all this time was in deep thought

So I've been isekaied huh. How did I end up like this?

He entered a flashback

I was the first born of three children, one boy two girls. We were not too well of a family but we were also not poor you could say. Mom was an accountant and Dad owned a small construction company.

Life was fun when I was the only child , I got any thing I wanted , my parents showered me in love. The three of us , they were happy days and they got even happier when when my sisters came. They were twins, I still remember 8 year old me poking at their cheeks, the cutest things in the world.

Their first words , steps and everything in between it was the best time of my life. Then it happened Dad was home and mom was coming home. Or that's what was suppose to happen.

She had a car accident, the bus driver was drunk on the job.

All I remember was my sisters crying clinging to her comatose body and my Dad holding her hand with thinned lips. It felt like a dream the woman who raised us, lying there with pipes and breathing aids all over her.

Her hand felt cold

The ride home changed me. That was the first time I saw my Dad cry, my sisters were asleep. The man who could fall of our house get and laugh at himself like it was nothing was shedding tears.

"Hey son, since Mom won't be here for a while please look after Suzie and Sara in her stead"

Those were the only words he said.

The next few months to a year things were tough to say the least. I was the one who completed the bulk of the chores in the house, my sisters had a bad mood but adapted over time. Dad on the other hand, he seemed to be well... not well.

He had bags under his eyes and had the constant odour of alcohol. the stress was getting to him. Between paying the hospital bills for Mom who was in a coma, competition with other companies and us it was overwhelming and it was showing.

I put on a brave face and said if he needed help he should ask me I'll come running. Heh, childhood ignorance, but it seemed to get his spirit up a little.

But then we were thrown out of our own house. Apparently Dad tried to get a contract that would have a big pay off, but an accident happened that killed 5 people and Dad was sued of everything he had.

We moved to the slums, Dad declared us that everything will be alright, he'll get us out of here.

The next day he went out to find a job but he never returned, he was murdered and the killer was never found.

Now with us practically orphans with risk of Mom not receiving care and us starving I gave up school just as I was entering high school and looked for a job, any job would be fine no matter if I broke my bones as long as my sisters and Mom were in good care it was okay.

Over the next five years I worked all the miscellaneous jobs I could find, and miraculously was able to pay Moms bills and send my sisters to an all girls boarding school. Even though they were adamant about not going I managed to convince them about the slums not being safe for two adorable girls, their flustered faces were medicine for my tired body.

And gone they went, alleviating some of my worries, a year went by and we got into we got into a little routine where we meet up for a get together and visit Mom. One was coming and I very excited, fu fu fu my sisters were very smart and more often than not were always in the top ten and I had scouted a little present for them but there was one problem, I needed a little more money.

But the manager at the construction company wouldn't give me a raise, I may or may not have spilled some concrete on her. But she didn't have to remind me every time we meet jeez, and I don't care if your the daughter of the CEO.

While working that day and accident happened.

By something unforeseen the steel beams that were supposed to be smelted fell and then...everything has a blur.

"sigh"

A defeated sigh escaped from the green-haired boy's mouth as he slumped over the bed. A shadow covered his face but one could see the faint quivering of his lips. His eyes became glazed as tears welled up from their corners.

"sniff, sniff." Tears started to fall down, the green-haired boy wondered why he was crying as he tried to wipe them off but try as he might just as he wiped one two more fell down. "sob, sob" his cries became louder while the tears came with new intensity.

"It's fine, let your emotions out. It's better that way." Sitting down next to Elwin, Elowen gently patted his head as she whispered, her hand moving in a rhythmic pattern.

"You don't have to be scared because I am here. Your dad's going to protect you." Rawls sat on the other side of Elwin and patted his back.

In the middle of this two pronged attack Elwin relented and all the pent up feelings that he hid finally burst forth.

The pain of seeing his mother motionless on that hospital bed.

I still needed you Mom.

The unease of taking care of the house.

My shoulders felt stiff all the time.

The humiliation of moving to the slums.

I can still hear the laughs of my so-called friends.

The anger towards his father.

You promised, you promised to take care of us but then you died.

The frustration of having to take care of his mother and sisters.

I felt like I could do more, be better for them but I couldn't.

And his death.

Dammit, dammit, dammit.

"hic, hic" The dam broke loose and everything came out as his cries grew even louder. " ah, ahh, ahhh!" He grasped tightly upon the hem of Elowen's clothes burying his face on her abdomen

Elowen didn't mind the tears and snot dirtying her clothes, she just pulled him closer into a hug and hummed a song. A song that her mother taught her, a song of the High Elves that calms the mind.

Elwin's cries gradually grew quieter then finally being replaced by his sleeper breaths. "Rest well my little cry-baby" Elowen softly muttered while running her hand through his hair.

After putting Elwin to bed Rawls and Elowen stood outside his room. Looking closely Elowen could see a smirk on Rawls face. "What's so funny." she asked.

"Nothing I'm just amazed by the woman I married." he said nonchalantly causing the green-haired woman to become red as a tomato. "W-What are you after?" she then lost her composure leading to the blonde man chuckling.

"Ha, look who's talking, you said I Am Here just like the Captain." Elowen probed trying to make Rawls flustered too.

"I was trying to make Elwin calm, but it did the opposite that, big cry-baby." Though faint Rawls' cheeks had a shade of red to them but then the atmosphere grew sombre.

"Rawls would we be talking like this if you had been late?"

"Elowen?"

"Just a second more and our whole lives would have been changed forever."

"Elowen."

"That goblin would have," she struggled to spit out the words. "Our son, it would have kille-"

"Elowen, stop!" Rawls bellowed grasping at her arms to wake her up from her stupor. " We don't have to worry about that, our son is here alive and well."

"Umm." Thoroughly woken up Elowen couldn't find the word's to respond. "Yes you are right, our child is safe and all we need to do is raise him."

Rawls nodded in response. And then their face grew closer and closer resulting in ... "chu♡" ... a kiss.

"You know, I still get butterflies in my stomach" said Elowen with a smile that reached ear to ear.

"Me too. Now let's go make dinner, I'm sure Elwin will be hungry with all that sleeping."

Unbeknownst to them what the thought was Elwin crying because of his first goblin encounter he was crying because he was being relieved of chains inside his heart and psyche.

But they didn't know that or did they even need to know. All they were doing is what any parant would do if their child was suffering.
