Chapter 5 - The Conferntation

The following morning, I arrived at the designated location, a dimly lit industrial complex hidden in the outskirts of the city. There, I found myself face-to-face with the elite fighters of Dragon Nexus Technologies, a group whose reputation for ruthlessness preceded them. The air was thick with tension, a silent promise of the violence to come.

A security guard stepped forward, his sneer cutting through the stillness like a blade. "I thought you were too frightened to show up," he jeered, his voice dripping with disdain. "But I see I was mistaken."

Meeting his gaze, I retorted with a chilling declaration: "Today will be your last on this earth." My words hung in the air like a storm cloud, heavy and foreboding. The guard's sneer twisted into a malevolent grin as he raised a hand, summoning the other guards with a sharp whistle. "Get him!" he barked, and they surged forward like a pack of wolves.

But I was ready. The system embedded within me activated, its power surging through my veins like liquid fire. My physical capabilities were enhanced far beyond human limits, and with swift, calculated movements, I dismantled the first wave of guards. Their attacks were ferocious but uncoordinated, no match for my newfound strength and speed. Each strike I delivered was precise, each enemy falling in a blur of motion.

However, I knew this was only the beginning. The second wave loomed on the horizon, and they would not be so easily overcome. As I took a moment to steady myself, a sudden sharp pain exploded at the back of my head. I stumbled forward, stars dancing in my vision, as mocking laughter erupted around me.

"Did you really think we would play fair?" one of the guards sneered, his tone laced with cruel amusement. "Of course, we wouldn't!"

Disoriented and teetering on the brink of collapse, I barely registered the system's notification as it flashed before my eyes: "Master dying, initiating power transfer." The words blurred, but their meaning was clear. Confusion gripped me, but I had no time to dwell on it.

As the darkness threatened to consume me, the message continued: "Transfer complete. Bringing Master back to life."

And then: "New mission: Eliminate those who dared to harm Master."

A surge of energy unlike anything I had ever experienced coursed through me, banishing the pain and pulling me back from the edge of oblivion. With the system's newfound power, I felt unstoppable, my body moving with a precision and ferocity that defied logic. I struck down one guard before he even realized I was back on my feet. Then another. And another.

Each defeat brought a new rush of satisfaction, a primal thrill that I hadn't felt in years. The guards fell like dominos, their once-confident expressions replaced with fear as they realized the tide had turned. Even their leader, a towering brute with a reputation for his unyielding brutality, stood no chance.

When the last body hit the ground, the warehouse was silent save for my ragged breathing. I surveyed the carnage with a cold sense of satisfaction, my mind already turning to my next objective.

Dragon Nexus Technologies would pay for what they had done—for their arrogance and their cruelty. Their manager, Li Wei, was the architect of this operation, and I would ensure he met the same fate as his guards.

The system pulsed with anticipation, its voice resonating in my mind: "New mission: Eliminate Li Wei."

I welcomed the challenge. For the first time in a long time, I felt alive.
