Kimberly's eyes scanned the news article, her heart sinking. Photos of her mangled car, scattered debris, and reports of her presumed death made her blood run cold. The cruel comments below the article made her eyes waver. People threw insults at her agreeing that she deserved to die.
"You were the one who made this happen?" she asked, her voice laced with despair. " You made it look like I'm dead… but why?"
Jason's expression remained impassive, "You would have died anyway." He replied and averted his gaze from hers. She was staring at him too much; people would normally look down, blush, or stand uncomfortably when talking to him.
" Thank you for saving my life." She finally lowered her head as a sign of respect and raised her head once more.
" Save the thanks to yourself. You owe me now." He replied coldly and finally walked closer to her when he saw her unwilling to move. " It seems my presence has weakened you." He chuckled darkly, and whispered after getting close to her, " It happens, so I'm not surprised."
Jason's slender fingers grazed Kimberly's elbow, sending shivers down her spine. With deliberate slowness, he traced a path down to her palm, with his wicked grin hinting at secrets.
"I know it's no surprise you already have a tainted reputation," he whispered, his breath dancing across her ear.
Locking eyes with hers, Jason's gaze held a dark, mischievous glint. "And well, you seem pretty fearless, I like it." His voice dropped to a husky murmur. "But I hate pretenders, so you can drop the act now."
Jason's long, dark hair was slicked back, revealing his fine features. His eyes, a deep-black bore into Kimberly's. His plump, pink lips curled into a smirk as he retracted his hand.
Jason's beauty appeared mesmerizing with pale skin, dark hair, and piercing dark eyes. Kimberly's senses were overwhelmed by his aura.
Kimberly buit her tongue, but kept a straight face, " Don't come too close, I don't like physical contacts with people." She yanked her hand away from his, but regretted it inwardly. Was he trying to seduce her? Urgh Men!
Jason's neutral gaze finally broke and a frown appeared on his face. This was a first… she didn't even flinch. He wanted to expose her, she must surely be pretending! No one can stand straight in front of him, but here she was even daring to refuse his touch.
Han bit his lower lips trying to force back a smile.
Jason raised a brow, " well that doesn't matter, wether you like it or not, you're alive thanks to… us. You know nothing comes for free in life, you owe me, and now I have come to ask you for a request."
" I didn't ask you to save me." Kimberly replied nonchalantly, and stepped back.
" Well, I did and now you owe me." Jason replied with a tone of arrogance. She was really getting on his nerves now. First she thanked him, and now… He expected her to show gratitude or even beg to marry him, but she refused his touch…
" I don'— " she was about to speak when Jason turned. He started walking towards the door with his hands tucked away in his pockets. Two bodyguards walked in straight towards Kimberly, and spoke, " please follow us, ma'am."
By now, Jason was already out the door. Han stared at Kimberly with a soft chuckle escaping his lips before he spoke. " We're trying to help you ma'am, but it's a win-win situation. Please follow us to know more. You're clearly being targeted, and you must remain undercover for now."
" Oh, I see. Thank you." She replied with a head nod.
She started to follow Han who was leading her out. The hospital was unusually quite, only their footsteps could be heard as they walked out.
" You must be wondering why the hospital is very quiet." Han spoke up attempting to ease her mind. She must have been through a lot for her to have been targeted though. Well, it's presumably normal for her since she's the former head of a company, but she was a woman after all, and they need special treatment. Her lack of trust and composure are very fine qualities in his opinion. She was obviously being protective.
" I guess your boss must be behind it." She replied calmly.
Han smiled, and let out a friendly chuckle. " You must be a very strong woman." He commented, attempting to further the conversation.
Kimberly noticed his attempt to set a friendly atmosphere, and finally sighed. " I mean, you caught that phone that was meant to either kill you, or knock you out. You were fast too."
" Meant to kill me?" She asked with an amused smile, " that was merely a simple throw."
" Well, he is very skilled in his throws though. It you hadn't caught it, it'd have landed in the exact spot he wanted it, which might cause severe damage."
" I see…" Kimberly's gaze fell on her blood red palm with an unnoticeable chuckle. " What does he want from me?"
Han smiled cheerfully, " you're about to find out, young miss."
As soon as they reached the parking lot, a car had already began to move out already. It was Jason's car. Another car followed suit, Leaving her with Han and the other two bodyguards.
" Right this way, young miss." Han opened the back seat of the car, and she silently slid in.
As Kimberly settled into the passenger seat, she noticed the interior of Jason's car. The sleek, black leather upholstery enveloped her, while the scent of premium leather wafted through the air.
Han sat in the front seat next to the chauffer, and the car started to move with another car trailing behind them.
The entire ride was silent as Kimberly carefully observed. It was clear that this man wasn't someone ordinary from the start, but now she was starting to have thoughts on his real status. He couldn't be of higher stats than her could he?
" We're here, ma'am, Hotel von Bayern"
