Where am I?
My blurred, open eyes see a ceiling I don't recognize at all.
And my ears hear a deafeningly loud sound.
Is this the sound of a child crying?
I didn't know anyone who had kids, so I shouldn't have much of a chance to hear them cry. ....
Anyway, I wonder what's going on.
Since I was awake, the next thing I would do would be to get up and start moving.
Naturally, I woke up and tried to sit up with all my strength in my arms.
But against my will, I couldn't get up at all.
I also felt as if there was a fog hanging over my head, and I could not clear my thoughts.
Could it be that I had an accident?
I don't remember at all, but maybe I was injured by the impact of the accident and can't move?
Then this smashed head might be an after-effect of the accident.
If so, where am I?
If I'm right and there was an accident, then of course this should be a hospital.
But it doesn't look like it.
After all, the ceilings and walls that I have seen from a while ago are terribly dirty.
It is different from dirty.
It is not that there are stains on the wallpapers, or that they are old and faded with the passage of time.
The walls themselves are made of clay.
Moreover, the surface of the wall has been scraped off in some places, or the wall surface is even bumpy.
"Oh, my. Are you hungry?
Just then, I heard a sound that had not been there before.
I turn around in a panic in the direction of the sound.
A figure comes running toward me.
I came close to the person and saw his/her face.
It is a woman.
A young, beautiful woman in her twenties.
I am startled for a moment.
But the woman blew away my worries in no time.
"Lighting."
This is because the woman's actions in front of me were completely unexpected.
As soon as she said a word, a ball of light shot out from her fingertip and floated in the air, as she held up her right index finger.
This is not a hospital!
It's another world!
Subconsciously, I started to make a tskkomi in Kansai dialect, which I don't usually use, but I guess I shouldn't care.
I finally understood my situation.
This is not the Japan I know, nor is it on Earth.
At least, it is a world where magic exists.
Moreover, the baby's cry that I had been hearing since a while ago seemed to be my own.
In other words, I must have been reincarnated into another world.
And so my new life began.
