Rhaegar touched her face again and all of a sudden, despite her feverish state, Lorelai felt strangely calm and protected.
For the first time in her life, she actually felt safe. The man next to her was protecting her, keeping her away from all the harm and hurt, and Lorelai could not help but seek the comfort of his touch again.
The lycan king gently kissed her lips again and whispered, "Open your eyes, it should be fine now."
As if hypnotized, she obeyed his words and forced her eyelids open, blinking several times before the vision finally returned to her.
The princess could see the blurry outline of Rhaegar's face and felt another wave of relief washing over her. It was enough to make her let go of the last clutches of that suffocating fear.
That moment of ease, however, did not last long.
