Chapter 36 - Elara's

Elara is a daughter from one of the richest families in XXX Town. Due to her wealth, many people only want to be her friends for the money, which she is well aware of. However, she wishes to find true friends.

At school, she faces many rumors and negative comments about herself. For example, people often say, "Elara has really big boobs," and "She's a slut." She's heard many such things about herself.

One day, while lost in thought and without her bodyguard, she left school and found herself in an uncomfortable situation. As she was waiting for the green light to cross the road, a car came speeding towards her. She was so shocked she couldn't move.

Luckily, a boy came to her rescue. He saved her from the oncoming car. After the scary event, when she started to calm down, he came closer and asked, "Are you okay?"

As more people rushed over to check on her, the boy who had saved her took off. She attempted to stop him, but she was too stunned to speak. The only thing she could remember about him were his eyes.

After the incident, she continued searching for the boy, but she couldn't find him. In her daily routine, she would forget about what happened. However, in her heart, she couldn't forget the boy. Every time she saw a boy around his age, she would try to see if it was him. But she had no luck. The only thing she clearly remembered about him was his pair of blue, dark pupils.

As she was about to forget him, a new event made her think more about him. She had an argument with her parents and in anger, she ran away from home without considering the consequences.

While she was running without any clear thoughts, a truck suddenly approached her, triggering memories of a past incident. "Is he here to save me again?" she wondered, feeling both alone and scared. "Is this how it ends for me?" she thought, as the truck attempted to stop but it seemed too late.

Before the collision, someone pushed her out of the truck's path. She recognized the eyes of the person who had saved her before. But this time, it was too late for the boy who had pushed her. He was hit by the truck and thrown a few meters away. The world grew quiet, except for the truck's engine and the driver's screams.

Standing there in shock, she ran to the boy. "No, no... please...…" She woke up.

Elara woke up feeling the same way she had every morning recently. The recurring nightmare was taking a toll on her, filling her days with a heavy burden of guilt. As she sat on the bed, her bare body revealed her perky pink nipples, standing firm against her pale skin. She slowly got up and put on her panty and bra. The bra felt like it was holding the weight of the universe, reminding her of the constant pressure she faced. After dressing, she emerged from her room to find a couple of maids waiting with her breakfast.

Elara had only eaten a little. Her parents were very concerned about her condition. They had heard about Ethan and understood the gravity of his sacrifices.

"Eat more, sweetie," her mom suggested.

"But I'm not hungry, mom," Elara replied as she left the table.

Her mother turned to her husband and asked, "What can we do?"

He sighed and said, "The doctor said Ethan's body is okay, but the accident affected his head, causing delusions."

Her mother was shocked by this news.

Elara started getting dressed and prepared to go to the hospital. Recently, she had been feeling much better there.

When she walked into Ethan's room, she saw him sitting on the bed. She greeted him with a cheerful smile and said, "Hi, Good Morning!"

Ethan looked up and returned her smile, saying, "Good morning."

"What's going on?" Elara inquired.

"I'm only looking up some stuff about the world." He responded and placed his phone aside.

"Tell me what's happened?" Ethan questioned her gently.

"What do you mean?" Elara was surprised.

"Nothing has happened." She tried to play it off with a little laugh, but it didn't work.

"I know," Ethan said understandingly.

"Are you having a nightmare again?"

Elara looked at him, her eyes welling up with tears.

Ethan knew the feeling because he had experienced many nightmares himself before being brought to Astra, so he offered a comforting hug.

Theo questioned, "Are you upset over the accident, Elara?"

Elara was surprised to hear this.

"I know about the accident," Theo said, trying to reassure her, even though he was a stranger to Ethan's body. I'm sure no bad person would try to save someone in a life-or-death situation.

"So don't worry, I'm okay. I've started my rehabilitation and I'll be walking again soon." He gave her a comforting smile and gently wiped her tears away.

"You know, I didn't know hospital food was that good," Theo said with a smirk, looking at Elara as she brought in the tray of food.

"Would you like some?" Theo held out a spoonful of the steaming, fragrant porridge, his gaze playful.

Elara blushed slightly, "No, thank you. I've already eaten."

Theo's playfulness didn't wane. "Ah, come on," he coaxed. "You can't refuse a taste from your hero."

Elara's eyes sparkled with amusement, and she couldn't resist his charm. She opened her mouth slightly, and Theo gently placed the spoonful of porridge inside. The warmth and sweetness spread across her tongue, and she had to admit, it was quite delicious.

"Mmm," she murmured, unable to hold back a smile.

Theo grinned, enjoying her reaction. "See, I told you it was good."

Elara took the spoon from his hand, "Fine, I'll have a taste," she said, feigned annoyance in her voice.

Theo's eyes twinkled with mischief. "But I'm not sure you can handle the heat," he teased, referencing the spicy meat dish on the tray.

Elara raised an eyebrow at him, the challenge accepted. "Watch me," she said, taking a bite of the spicy meat. Her eyes widened slightly at the heat, but she managed to chew and swallow with a small cough. "Not too bad," she said with a smirk.

Theo laughed, his chuckles filling the room with warmth. It was moments like these that made the hospital feel a bit less like a prison and more like a place of healing and camaraderie.

The nurse arrived and informed Ethan, "It's time for your rehabilitation session now."

Theo replied, "Of course."

Elara inquired, "Can I accompany you?"

With a smile on his face, Theo agreed, saying, "Yes, Elara, you can come with me."

Upon reaching the rehabilitation center, they found many patients already engaged in their training sessions. Elara offered to be the one to push Ethan's chair, and the nurse appreciated her willingness to assist.

Once inside, Theo began his therapy with a leg massage administered by a professional trainer. Following that, he commenced walking with the help of a rod to support his body. Despite the challenge, Theo put forth his best effort, taking one step at a time with the aid of the nurse and the trainer who were by his side.

Elara couldn't help but notice something as she observed Theo's progress. Despite the physical exertion and discomfort, Ethan remained smiling, making a conscious effort not to reveal his pain. This realization hit Elara, as she often found herself feeling down.

Theo's unwavering spirit and determination touched her heart. He demonstrated an inner strength that inspired her and served as a reminder of the importance of staying positive through tough times. His resilience was a testament to the human capacity to overcome adversity and continue striving for improvement, no matter what the circumstances may be.

After the treatment was done, Theo and Elara made their way back to his room. "You are awesome there," Elara said to Theo, her voice filled with admiration.

"Really, thank you," Theo said, his grip on her hand tightening. "But please, don't feel bad. Okay?"

"Can I, I am allowed to?" Elara asked, her gaze searching his eyes.

"Of course, I tell you, I don't hate you or feel any kind of thing like that. So, please," Ethan said to Elara with a warm smile on his face.

Elara studied his face, his eyes seemed to glow in the dimly lit room, and she felt a sudden rush of emotion. "That's cheating," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

"What?" Ethan asked, his smile turning into a curious expression.

"Nothing..." Elara said with a small laugh. "It's just... you have a way of making me feel better without even trying."

Theo's smile grew wider, "That's all I ever want to do, Elara."

Elara felt a warmth spread through her, and she knew that she had found someone genuine and kind-hearted in this confusing world of whispers and forgotten realities.
