Chereads / VAL: Journey of the Undying Hunter / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Vengeance (2)

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Vengeance (2)

"You chose the wrong body, stupid bastard."

Val lifted his face, a creepy smile hanging on his lips. As we held his body on the sword, he winched several times, as he held the pain in his body. His yellow eyes glared on the monster standing in front of him.

"I will make sure you die the most painful death," He followed without a trace of doubt.

Touching his now hollowed cheeks, he laughed even louder, his laugh doesn't resemble a laugh at all, more like a war cry, only expressed by the amused expression on his face.

Erus's body trembled with humor as he gazed upon the pitiful human that stood in front of him, the hole on his cheeks slowly mended.

"Hahahahah! You! You do have guts! Come human! I will rip out your eyes!"

Staying silent, Val stepped forward, pulling his sword from the ground. He tightened his stance, putting his right foot as the center of his gravity.

A blur of light flashed in front of Byrhemmoth. Val had moved so fast as an explosive strength emerge from the inside of his body, raising the sword, he shouted as loud as he can,

"I will kill you, Byrhemmoth!"

The grin grew even more sinister on Erus's face, looking at the human moving so fast in front of him with arrogance.

Stepping forward, he extended his hand forward, a dark aura flowed out of Erus's palm, easily catching Val's sword.

"Foolish human!" His grip on the sword grew tighter, Val can see his creepy smiles even closer now.

"No need to scream! I'm here already." He giggled as he shouted back.

Val pushed the blade of his sword even deeper into the aura, pushing the last of his strength to step forward.

"Why are you crying about these lifeless corpses? You are wasting your time, I will let you join them soon!"

The monster put even more strength into his grip on the sword, some small crack appeared on it. Erus's face lost its creepy smile, only fueled with hatred towards the human in front of him.

"You won't understand humans, you monster!" Val returned with another scream.

At the same time, as Val widens his yellowish eyes, a bright light emerges from his pupils. The golden light slightly blinded Byrhemmoth, and then…

Looking on top of the pathetic human head, a bluish flying hologram appeared on top of it, some words written on it.

In a flash, a golden aura warped around Val's sword, absorbing the dark aura around the monster– the darkness element that Byrhemmoth emitted.

Val struck his sword to the dark aura, immediately, an unseen force pushed Byrhemmoth away from Val as the monster stumbled upon the battlefield before being stopped by a large rock. Sitting on the rock, the body of Erus crosses its legs, the monster closed its eyelids before laughing again,

"Human! You are interesting! Hahaha!"

Byrhemmoth laughed even louder, the strength soared by the dying human in front of him is enough to intrigue him. He looks towards Val from between his fingers which held his face while laughing.

The human slashed as he leaped forward, the skill from the Parade Constellation is still active. Val himself is a bit shocked by the strength of this skill, he never even activated it! The only thing in his mind is to utilize the sudden strength to kill the monster.

Yet, Byrhemmoth suddenly vanished in a blink. His sword striked the empty air in front of him.

He stopped and carefully analyzed his surroundings, looking at each stones, puddle of blood, and bodies to see where Byrhemmoth would strike. He saw the puddle warped into a footprint before a shadow obstructed his vision, looking up, Val stumbled as he had nowhere and no time to run.

BRAK!!!

With Byrhemmoth authority over darkness, the smoke that hid his body condensed to Erus's hand striking towards Val, a giant hand that blocked even the sky swatted Val's body into the ground.

The loud noise only made the monster's grin grow wider. However, the lack of reaction from the human made him curious.

Lifting the giant hand, he giggled, watching how the pathetic human tried his hardest just to not get squished by his power. Val held his brittle sword up, holding the giant hand, his legs trembled, blood oozing from his every orifice.

The giggle slowly turned to annoyance as the human refused to get squished. Byrhemmoth's pushed down even harder and yet the human kept looking at him straight in the eye.

"Just! Die already!"

Yet Val kept his mouth shut, his breath short. The golden glow on his sword seemed brighter than ever, slowly sipping out the darkness from the giant hand.

"Why don't you join these bodies? Can't you hear that? They are calling for you to join them!"

Byrhemmoth pushed even more strength before suddenly stopped his attack, giving Val a time to take his breath. Erus's body crossed his arm behind his back, seemingly in rage yet also curious.

Spitting the blood in his mouth, Val wiped his lips that's already stained with blood. His whole body screaming in pain.

"You won't understand, you are a monster."

Byrhemmoth laughed hearing the similar sentence Val said.

Looking down on his torn up body, Val took a deep breath. A dark shadow looming over him again, he can see the smoke quickly strike his side from his peripherals, too fast to even react.

A mace of smoke smashed his sides, throwing him to the sides, a cracking sound created by his ribs. His breathing ragged, every time air entered his lung, something felt piercing his lungs, possibly the bones around his ribs.

Val looked towards the monster, trying to anticipate a follow up attack. He can see the trees he destroyed as he flew from the blow.

Val coughed blood, wrenching in pain. The dust and the smoke from Byrhemmoth attacks filled his pierced lung. Only the hoarse laugh and voice can be heard,

"Use your power. Aren't you going to kill me?" The mocking giggle comes from his left ear.

Turning his head, he felt his heart drop as Byrhemmoth is already crouching lazily beside his beaten body, scratching Erus's ear with a mocking smile, the similar height of him.

"You've gotten weaker," Val forced a grin as he stood up.

Instead of standing up to attack again, Val's body couldn't move, stiff as a rock, his whole body felt frozen and very painful.

Is there blood?

Val didn't care about the amount of blood that came out of his body, he had enough of the iron smell on the clothes he was wearing.

In the end, Val lowered his head. Even moving his mouth felt very difficult, looking at the battered sword on his right hand.

"Oh? What's this?"

Byrhemmoth circling around him, mocking his very existence. Not even a finger can be lifted with his present strength.

The brown boots stopped in front of Val, the one his friend usually wore. The friend that kept his mind calm all the time in the dungeon.

"Come on! Use your strength! Aren't you going to avenge him!?" The mocking tone screamed in front of him, taunting the battered body of Val.

'Ah, I don't know anymore, is Erus still alive? What should I do? Should I kill Erus too?'

"Erus …"

Val lifted his face, trying to get a good look at his friend's now demonic face. The silent mumbling continued,

"This isn't what you told me …,"

Erus's face grin even wider, the enlarged fang on his mouth decorate the devilish look of his angel-like friend.

"So what?" Byrhemmoth asked.

"Your body can't even contain all of that power. What did your sponsor do to someone like you?"

Even as Byrhemmoth directly stated the word sponsor, the one bound by the contract kept its silence.

"I feel sorry for your sponsor."

He said as he looked toward the red sky, inhaling the stench of blood surrounding them.

Looking at the man glaring in front of him, Byrhemmoth grew tired of his new found toy. The pathetic man then spoke,

"Shut up and die."

[The Cry of Bondage Lv. S has been activated]

"Hm?"

The monster tilted its head, wondering what Val can do with his battered body. As he smile, he felt a looming sense of dread above him.

Feeling this, Byrhemmoth raised his head to see what was happening up in the red sky. Byrhemmoth's face turned red with his mouth open as he looked at the sky.

A giant golden sword floats on the sky, splitting the sky in half, the blade of the sword keep getting bigger and bigger, dropping closer to the monster.

Running from the scene, Byrhemmoth silently counts his timing to dodge the giant sword before another golden light suddenly blasted from the ground he stepped on.

Two golden hands appeared out of nowhere to bind his footing, holding him from running away from the sword.

"Shit–"
