Chapter 29 - Blissful Dream

Miko

MikoI slept soundly for the rest of the night, the first time since the Leviathan. Usually, I'd wake up and stay up, staring at the ceiling in boredom. As I slept, I didn't have that nightmare again. Instead, this time I was allowed a pleasant dream. I was back on Earth with Kile. We were in the middle of a big, great field littered with flowers. The gentle spring breeze flowed by us, leaving a floral scent in its absence. In the distance you could see some squirrels playing with each other, scurrying up and down trees. A group of fawns grazed the grass. It was perfect bliss. Taking it all in, I smiled at Kile. Even if I was in a completely new world filled with new friends, I would never forget my first one. Laughing, Kile jumped up and threw a football at me. Unprepared and still sitting, I watched as the ball hit my head and landed on the ground. "Come on Miko! Can't you catch?!" He opened his arms out, imitating catching a ball, before making a 'bleh' sound. He was mocking me. Giving my own menacing laugh, I picked up the ball and threw it as hard as I could. Of course, he caught it with one hand. In addition to being academically gifted, Kile was actually quite athletic. Due to his perfection, I was surprised when he said he wanted to be my friend. He was the school's greatest star, and I was its biggest loser. Kile was the first one to make me feel like I mattered in a long time. Feeling tears form in my dream self, I jumped up, amped to play catch with my best friend. The moment was too perfect to think anything gloomy. The ball zipped through the air again, a perfect spiral. Ready this time, I caught it cleanly. The dream continued on and on like that. For the first time in a week, I slept well. It was all due to Kile's happiness. I just hope the real Kile is as happy as the one in this dream. ... I woke up from my slumber to snickering. Experience telling me that it was Aruna and Farv, I immediately shot my eyes open and jolted from my bed, looking for the prank. Unable to find anything, I returned my attention to the 2. What could be so funny that Aruna is clutching her stomach, putting her hand on Farv for support. "What's so funny?" I said, narrowing my eyes. I had such a pleasant dream, only to wake to these rascals. Through her laughing, Aruna tried to force out "S-s-sorry." After a concentrated effort to collect herself, Aruna momentarily left Farv alone to laugh. Fighting through the laughter building up again, she mockingly said "Sleepy do- dolt, who- who's the boyfriend!" Then they both burst out laughing. "Boyfriend?" I whispered in confusion. Farv began holding his chest with his hand, exclaiming with an intonation similar to Rick Grimes "Kile! ( Carl!), Kile! ( Carl!), Kile!( Carl!). Kile! ( Carl!), please don't leave me my betrothed!" Lunging at Farv, I pulled his ear as he yelped "OW!!!" As I let go he reached to his ear with a false frown, crying, "What was that for?!" I narrowed my eyes at both of them. "Kile isn't my boyfriend, he's my friend from Earth." Farv scratched his head saying, "What's Earth?" as Aruna whispered, "Sorry." Studying me for a second, Farv tapped my forehead. "Is your friend an alien?" As Aruna tried to hide her snicker, I burst out laughing saying "Well, you guys are more so the aliens to be honest." Aruna punched me exclaiming, "I'm not an alien I'm a princess!", with Farv adding "Yeah, and I'm not an alien I just come from another world!" We all laughed at the absurdity of our humor. Really, our worlds couldn't be further apart. And yet we didn't feel alien to each other at all. Well, it was kind of weird that Aruna came into our room. "Hey Aruna, what are you doing in our home anyway? Your swords break?" She procured a sword from thin air and swung it at me, narrowly missing (on purpose I hope). Laughing, she said, "My swords are still fine Sleepy Dolt. Actually, I came here because I figured you forgot about the Festival of Argus." Blinking I asked, "What's that." Aruna rolled her eyes at me before nudging Farv. "Sleepy Dolt's hopeless I tell you. The Science Kingdom, ' Fae' Ro' (She made mocking sounds when calling the kingdom its proper name) has this festival EVERY year, and he still forgets." "I left Earth like 2 weeks ago." She looked at me for a second, as if assessing the punishment I should receive for speaking up. Farv, I thank you for making her lively again, but why do I have to get beat up because of it? "You should still know what the Festival is. Even infants get excited about it!" This time Farv spoke up. "How do you know the infants are excited?" Aruna responded matter-of-factly with an exaggerated wave of her arm. "They scream and cry because they are so excited. Isn't it obvious?" We both groaned. "Babies cry and scream all the time." Aruna jumped on me, tackling me on the bed exclaiming, "Yeah, well you should just know! Ok!" Predicting the incoming headlock, I scrambled from underneath her weight. However, despite her light frame I still couldn't move a muscle. As she moved her head close to mine so that I could clearly see her crazy eyes, I kept praying for Farv to say "Ahem" or something. Instead, she whispered, "I'm expecting great things from you, Miko. Look your best." What does that mean? She jumped off my bed, grabbed my arm, and pulled me off with her. As she was leading me out of the room at the speed of light, she looked back laughing, and said, "In the meantime let's go kidnap your boyfriend!"
