Chapter 1 - Prologue

Rows upon rows of soldiers stood before me, ready to defend their reality to the final breath.

There were at least a million soldiers ready to lay down their lives as they waged a terrible war against extinction.

The honorable dashed forward in a unified charge against cruelty, chaos, and death. The honorable valiantly raised their swords, spears, and every other weapon they had against cruelty, chaos, and death. Heads held high, the honorable screamed their defiance.

To cruelty, to chaos, to death. To me.

"How disappointing."

With an indifferent glare, I unsheathed my sword. The resulting shockwave knocked down the army, forcing them to kneel. A few even died somehow.

[3,000 souls acquired. 1 experience point gained.]

Even my system taunted my boredom. As the greatest heir in the Demon Lord's army, it would take over a trillion experience points to level up at this point.

"This is all your reality has to offer?"

One of the ants stepped forward as if he could even challenge just my boredom. With a raise of my finger, he disintegrated.

The soldiers, who were just moments ago putting on that insulting facade of bravado, now showed their true colors—ants, each and every one of them.

I wouldn't even need to do anything more; the terror they felt was eating their very soul. Soon, they would be the fodder of the very army they swore to fight.

Disgusted with the thought of them being allowed into my army, I expedited their deaths, extracting all of their souls with ease.

Walking over the mountain of corpses, I looked out over the desolate battlefield with pure disappointment. Lately, the realities have been crumbling easier and easier, but this level of display was still the most insulting.

"Sir, bad news my liege!"

My head snapped in the direction of my familiar's voice.

A dusky old imp, I'd have killed him long ago if he didn't impress me in combat.

I might kill him even now, with how sore my mood is. Looking ahead at the ruined planet, I kicked one of the corpse's head through his comrades' corpses.

"I can see that. Why would the Demon Lord send his 2nd in command on such peasant trips! I want some fun dammit!"

The imp set one of the corpses on fire, inhaling its fumes. An annoying habit of his, he knows that I think scarred flesh smells disgusting.

After he finished inhaling, he said, "That's not it, sir! My liege, I've heard talk that these people somehow got their hands on a system. But I don't sense it anywhere!"

I finally smiled. Something interesting was going to occur after all!

The imp grew agitated by my smile, but that was solely because he couldn't rebuke the vessels or the heirs as easily as I could. He had to rely on the 2nd strongest in the demon lord's army for protection, whereas I was the said 2nd strongest, only inferior to the demon lord himself. A clear, boring power difference.

"Which system was it? And please don't tell me it's a low-ranking one that we give out like candy. Or I might kill you."

The imp inhaled fumes again before saying "It's the original system, my liege."

Grabbing him by his throat, I screamed "What! If what you say is true, why would you be so casual in telling me!" Forming a ball of glacier energy in my hand, I made a clear threat. "I should kill you for that!"

The vermin strained his neck to inhale more fumes. "S- sorry my liege."

Erasing the energy from my hand, I showed mercy by throwing him to the corpses, lost in thought.

This was extremely bad.

That system was the key to unlocking the full power of the demon sword.

Whoever conquered it would be even stronger than me.

It was unlikely anyone would survive inheriting it, but if they did... They wouldn't be one of the 10 heirs to the demon lord or a vessel of his aspects.

They'd simply be the successor.
