Chapter 65 - Elsa Bloodstone vs Elemental giants

Elsa Bloodstone moved swiftly, her holiday gear traded for her usual hunting attire: a reinforced leather jacket, armored boots, and her signature twin pistols holstered at her sides. Her chest piece, the Bloodstone relic, gleamed faintly—a sure sign of danger.

She hurried into her study, where a teleportation device sat dormant on a cluttered table. The machine, cobbled together from mystical artifacts and cutting-edge technology, was her gateway to the most dangerous corners of the world.

"Coordinates received," she muttered, punching in the numbers she'd been sent. A low hum filled the room, and the air rippled as the device powered up. "Ngami Basin, South Africa. Monsters, ancient artifacts. Sounds like my kind of mess."

With one last look around her peaceful sanctuary, Elsa stepped onto the teleporter pad. The hum built into a zapping noise, and in an instant, the world around her dissolved into streaks of light and shadow.

[The Ngami Basin]

The first thing Elsa noticed as she materialized was the bitterly cold temperature. The Ngami Basin was far too frozen for a place so close to the Kalahari Desert. Icy gusts howled across the landscape, and everything was covered in a thick layer of frost. Shattered trees and ice-encrusted rocks were scattered about, with jagged shapes illuminated by a strange, otherworldly glow from a distant aurora.

Her breath clouded the air as she adjusted to the sudden temperature drop. "Not exactly what I packed for," she muttered, drawing her coat tighter.

Before she could take a step, a blood-curdling scream pierced the frozen wilderness. Elsa's pistols were in her hands instantly, their silver-plated barrels glinting in the pale light.

"Right, let's see what's making all the fuss."

She moved cautiously toward the source of the scream, her boots crunching on the icy ground. The Bloodstone relic on her chest pulsed faintly, guiding her toward the danger. As she crested a ridge, the scene below made her pause.

A pack of grotesque frost creatures was tearing through a group of hapless explorers. The monsters were almost humanoid and distorted, and their bodies were covered in jagged ice and frost. Their eyes glowed deep blue as they lunged at their prey, claws ripping through flesh like some monsters from horror movies.

Elsa didn't hesitate. Raising her pistols, she took aim at the nearest creature. "Oi, Frosties! Let's dance."

Her first shot rang out, the silver bullet striking true. The creature's head exploded in a shower of ice shards, its body collapsing into a pile of frost-covered rubble. The other monsters turned, their glowing eyes locking onto Elsa.

"Yeah, that's right. Come to Auntie Elsa."

The frost creatures charged, their inhuman speed sending them hurtling toward her like a frozen avalanche. Elsa fired again, her shots precise and lethal. Two more creatures fell, their icy forms shattering on impact.

But there were too many. The remaining creatures split into two groups, one circling behind her while the others attacked head-on.

Elsa holstered one pistol, drawing a long silver blade from her back. "You lot really don't know who you're messing with."

She met the first creature's charge head-on, sidestepping its wild swing and driving her blade into its chest. The monster let out a piercing shriek before crumbling into ice. Spinning on her heel, she fired at another creature closing in from the side, her bullet tearing through its head.

The pack was relentless, their claws swiping and teeth snapping with icy fury. Elsa moved with the grace of a seasoned hunter, dodging and countering with deadly precision.

When one creature lunged at her from behind, she ducked low, grabbing a frost-covered rock and smashing it into the monster's face. It staggered, giving her enough time to drive her blade through its throat.

The last creature hesitated, its glowing eyes flickering as if realizing it was outmatched. Elsa grinned, raising her pistol. "Smart move, but it's too late for second thoughts."

The shot echoed through the frozen basin, and the final monster fell. Elsa stood amidst the shattered remains, catching her breath as the Bloodstone's glow dimmed.

"Right," she said, wiping frost from her blade. "Now, where's this bloody artifact?"

The Artifact's Guardian

The Bloodstone pulsed again, its glow guiding Elsa deeper into the basin. She followed its lead, climbing up icy ridges and navigating dangerous frozen terrain. The wind had grown louder now as she reached the source of the disturbance-a huge ice formation towering over the landscape.

At the base of the formation, something glittered faintly. Elsa kneeled, wiping frost away, to reveal some strange artifact buried in the ice. It was a ring. On its surface were ancient runes and it seemed to glow in otherworldly blue light.

"Well, aren't you a pretty thing?" she murmured, reaching for the ring.

The moment her fingers brushed the artifact, the ground shook violently. Elsa leaped back as the ice cracked and split, releasing a deafening roar.

From the ice emerged a monstrous guardian. A towering creature of frost and stone. Its body was massive, its limbs ending in jagged spikes of ice. Blue fire burned in its hollow eyes as it fixed its gaze on Elsa.

"Oh, fantastic," she muttered, drawing both pistols.

The guardian charged, its movements surprisingly fast for its size. Elsa rolled to the side, her pistols barking as she fired at the creature's head. The bullets struck, but the ice reformed almost instantly.

"Right, bullets are a no-go," she said, dodging another swing.

The creature's massive arm slammed into the ground, narrowly missing her and leaving a deep crater in the ice. Elsa scrambled to her feet, holstering her pistols and drawing her blade again.

"Let's see how you like a bit of cold steel."

She darted in, slashing at the creature's legs. The blade bit into the ice, leaving cracks but not enough to disable it. The guardian roared, swinging its arm in a wide arc. Elsa ducked, the wind from the swing whipping her hair as she rolled beneath its massive form.

Her mind raced. The creature was too powerful to take head-on, and her usual weapons were barely scratching it. She needed a plan and fast.

Elsa gritted her teeth as the frost guardian roared, its massive frame running toward her again. She sidestepped a crushing blow, her blade sparking as it scraped against the icy ground. Her mind raced, weighing her dwindling options. There was only one move left. She had to unleash the Bloodstone's power.

"Alright, big guy," she muttered, gripping her chestpiece. "Let's see how you like a taste of this."

The Bloodstone relic flared to life, its crimson glow illuminating the frozen basin. Energy surged through her body, filling her veins with burning heat that defied the frigid air. Raising her hand, she directed the Bloodstone's energy toward the frost guardian. A brilliant red blast erupted, hitting the creature square in the chest.

The force of the blast shattered the guardian's icy form, scattering shards across the landscape. Elsa staggered back, panting, as the Bloodstone dimmed slightly. She allowed herself a moment of satisfaction—until the ground beneath her feet began to quake again.

"What now?" she groaned, turning toward the source of the disturbance.

From the fractured ice emerged not one, but ten monstrous figures. Each radiated a distinct elemental power—fire, thunder, poison, frost, and more. Their forms twisted and grotesque, they glared at her with glowing eyes, their combined presence radiating an overwhelming aura of menace.

"You've got to be kidding me," Elsa muttered, drawing her pistols again. "What is this, some kind of bloody monster buffet?"

The creatures charged, their movements synchronized as if they shared a single mind. Elsa opened fire, her bullets finding their marks, but the damage was fleeting. The frost creature reformed; the fire one absorbed her shots like kindling. Her blade wasn't faring much better against their hardened forms.

She unleashed another energy blast, the Bloodstone's red light cleaving through two of the creatures. They howled and crumbled, but the remaining eight surged forward with renewed fury. Elsa fought like a demon, her superhuman strength, speed, and endurance keeping her alive in the chaos. She dodged a thunder-infused strike, parried a poison-tipped claw, and countered a fire creature's flaming tendrils.

But it wasn't enough.

A blow from the thunder creature sent her sprawling, her body skidding across the ice. Pain lanced through her as she forced herself to stand, blood dripping from a gash on her forehead. She fired another shot, but the creatures were relentless, surrounding her in a tightening circle.

The Bloodstone pulsed faintly, its energy nearly drained. Elsa clenched her fists, defiant even in the face of impossible odds.

"Alright, you bastards," she growled, wiping the blood from her face. "If I'm going down, I'm taking a few more of you with me."
