After Sato and his two Pokémon left the Beedrill hive, they encountered no obstacles along the way. Over the past few days, Sato, relying on his two Pokémon, had conquered most of the wild Pokémon in the nearby forest, and now, none dared to challenge him.
After spending more than ten minutes, around four in the afternoon, Sato and his team successfully returned to the base of the large tree where their temporary residence was located, quickly making their way back to the secret treehouse.
As soon as they returned to the treehouse, Sato eagerly took out the black backpack he had obtained from the Beedrill hive and began to unpack its contents one by one.
The black backpack was just an ordinary backpack, similar to the small one he had at the start of the mission. Inside, there were six PokeBalls, a card sealed in black paper, and a letter.
The six PokeBalls were clearly not manufactured by Team Rocket; they were handmade, crafted by traditional Pokémon Ball artisans using natural materials.
These handmade PokeBalls outperformed commercially available ones in terms of performance, customization, and secrecy. Of course, they were relatively expensive, but they were highly favored by high-ranking trainers and the elite.
All six PokeBalls looked identical, with a design of red on top and white on the bottom, featuring a golden star engraved on the blue shell.
Sato took a brief interest in the six handmade PokeBalls before setting them aside, shifting his attention to the card sealed in black paper.
When Sato tore away the black paper and revealed the true nature of the card, his pupils dilated, and a look of shock crossed his face.
The card turned out to be a League identification card, and the image in the upper right corner clearly showed Sato's current appearance. This meant that it was an identification card belonging to him.
"Oh my gosh, Team Rocket really has incredible power! This ID card is real, not some fake made in the black market," Sato said, looking at the League ID in his hand. He then turned it over to check the back, where a Poké Ball pattern appeared faintly when exposed to light. His expression showed a hint of emotion.
In fact, when Sato learned that he was undocumented, he had thought about obtaining a legitimate League identification card. Unfortunately, as a nobody without any background, he never even got a chance to appeal. Even with a certificate from the village chief back in his rural village, it proved useless.
Unable to obtain a League ID through legitimate means, Sato had decided to find someone in the black market to make one. However, the anti-counterfeiting technology used in official League ID cards was among the best in the Pokémon world.
The counterfeits made in the black market might work for rural residents, but in towns and cities where Officer Jenny enforced the law, those fake IDs were worthless and could lead to serious consequences. If caught with a fake ID, one could be immediately targeted for arrest and thrown into jail.
Now, the ID card in front of Sato was obviously genuine. The Poké Ball pattern on the back, which reflected light, served as the best proof. According to those who made fake IDs in the black market of Pewter City, this anti-counterfeiting technology was currently exclusive to the League. (In short, this ID card was legitimate.)
"Too bad, what use is this ID card to me now? I'm already on Team Rocket's ship, and getting off means this ID card they gave me would become a powerful constraint instead," Sato thought, his initial surprise slowly shifting into a bitter smile of resignation.
It's obvious that now that Team Rocket has provided him with a League ID card, they have completely grasped his identity and background. Even if he were to betray them in the future, he could no longer rely on the identity of Sato to seek refuge with the League.
Of course, with this League ID card, Sato could now openly live under the sun. He could freely enter any area controlled by the League, without having to hide from the League officers or fear being searched for identification.
Unfortunately, even though he thought about this now, Sato couldn't bring himself to feel happy. For him, this League ID card was merely a disguise to conceal his status as a Team Rocket member; he was still fundamentally seen as a villainous member of Team Rocket.
After letting out a deep sigh, Sato set aside the League ID card, which had once held great significance for him, and turned his attention to the last item in the black backpack.
Sato tore open the envelope, pulled out the letter inside, and began to read it carefully. After comparing the handwriting with that on the mission map, Sato immediately recognized it as belonging to the same person.
As he read the contents of the letter, his expression suddenly soured as if he had swallowed a fly. He was filled with immense confusion because the letter contained some unexpected information that left him bewildered, even somewhat in disbelief.
The letter roughly stated that the field trial task had been completed and that he now had a new mission: to find a way to travel to LaRousse City in the Hoenn region and achieve a ten-game winning streak at the Battle Tower there within 25 days of the upcoming Rookie Competition.
"What is going on here? Wasn't it agreed that I had to gather all the mission items to complete the field trial task? Why has the task suddenly changed? Now I have to go all the way to Hoenn by myself, and on top of that, I need to achieve ten consecutive wins at the world-famous Battle Tower in LaRousse City? They really think highly of me! I'm just a rookie who has only had a Pokémon for less than a month. This has got to be a joke!" After reading the letter, Sato felt as if there were ten thousand Alpacas running wildly in his mind.
LaRousse City is an island city located in the Hoenn region (the same city featured in the movie "Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys"). It's a technologically advanced city, and its most famous landmark is the Battle Tower.
The Battle Tower in LaRousse is world-renowned; it serves as a global stage for trainers to showcase their skills. The level of competition here is higher than that of the League tournaments held in various regions.
Trainers from all over the world come to the Battle Tower to enhance their strength and gain immense fame. They aim for continuous victories to achieve both recognition and rewards. The Battle Tower in LaRousse holds a status almost comparable to that of the Sky Pillar in the Hunter x Hunter world. (This is an original idea)
Now, as a rookie trainer who had only debuted less than a month ago, Sato was given such a daunting task, which left him feeling extremely distressed.
While Sato was venting his frustrations about the letter, at the peak of a small mountain near the Forest of Viridian, Sophia smiled and nodded at the recently returned Gengar, praising it.
'You've barely passed the field survival trial. From now on, your opponents won't be the mindless wild Pokémon; your future opponents will be much more cunning than wild Pokémon,' Sophia thought to herself as she gazed at the distant Viridian Forest.
