The celebration in the ship's main hall was lively, with everyone's faces beaming with joy.
At a more secluded table, Sato—disguised in his new identity—sat quietly, savoring the delicious dishes while engaging in a conversation with a tall sailor seated across from him.
Before long, after Sato jotted down a few notes in a small notebook, the conversation wrapped up. The tall sailor shook hands with Sato, smiling as he departed, and Sato returned the smile, watching him leave.
As soon as the tall sailor left, another sailor took his place in the still-warm chair, striking up another pleasant conversation with Sato.
This new chat didn't last long either. Just as before, after Sato nodded and noted down a few more details in his notebook, the sailor left with a satisfied expression.
During the celebration, though Sato wasn't the main star, he was undoubtedly a prominent figure. Until the end of the event, sailors and trainers continued to approach him for conversations.
Sato's respect and popularity among the others largely stemmed from his performance in the earlier battle against the Gyarados swarm.
Strength commands respect anywhere, and in the battle to protect the St. Louis from the Gyarados swarm, Sato, a trainer capable of defeating a Gyarados single-handedly, had become quite well-known.
While his impressive combat abilities earned him respect, his popularity grew even more due to another aspect of his actions.
After all, their opponents had been ferocious Gyarados. Despite the overwhelming numbers, many believed injuries and casualties were inevitable.
When a few sailors and Pokémon were critically injured, close to losing their lives, Sato stepped forward, using his Bellossom's healing ability to save these individuals from the brink of death.
Thanks to Sato's noble act, many sailors and trainers grew fond of him, and his intervention gave courage to those who had been hesitant to face the Gyarados.
With the Miracle Seed, Bellossom had gained better control over her Grassy Terrain move, significantly enhancing her healing capabilities.
In this battle to protect the St. Louis, Sato, in the unexpected role of Pokémon healer, played a key role. Except for two unfortunate souls who fell into the dark sea and were lost, no other casualties occurred.
Because of this, Sato earned the respect and admiration of nearly everyone on board.
Of course, no matter how skilled Bellossom was in healing, she was still only one Pokémon, and her ability was limited in the face of a large number of injuries.
Therefore, throughout the battle, Sato focused on treating only the most critically injured trainers and Pokémon, helping them avoid life-threatening situations.
After the battle, many injured still remained, and during the celebration, many sailors and trainers approached Sato at his table, hoping to gain the assistance of a capable Pokémon healer.
There's no denying that healers are often beloved, especially those willing to help in critical moments. Even the fiercest individuals must show respect when faced with a healer who extends help willingly.
If you ever insult or harm a healer, those who have received their care will not hesitate to step up and eliminate the threat you pose. After all, who can guarantee they'll never be injured in battle?
Having a good relationship with a healer might just keep you from a close encounter with the Grim Reaper.
Imagine someone who once saved your life being insulted, harmed, or even killed by a villain. What would you do? You might not be able to take down the villain alone, but if you knew others also wanted to bring them down, you'd likely join in without a second thought.
The gratitude for a life saved is no trivial matter.
In the Pokémon world, even though Sato is only a part-time Pokémon healer, his decisive actions during critical moments have already earned him respect and admiration from nearly everyone.
"Thank you so much for helping me with healing. Here's my number—just give me a call anytime. Have a pleasant evening, Mr. Sato."
A well-dressed trainer shook hands with Sato, smiling as he spoke.
"It was my pleasure. Safe travels, Mr. Pinot."
Sato returned the smile, and after the handshake, he watched his last visitor depart.
"Phew, finally done! I hadn't expected so many people to come seeking help after Bellossom showed off her healing skills. Maybe doing a little side work as a Pokémon healer isn't a bad idea," he said, looking at the many names and phone numbers he'd recorded in his notebook.
While healing items can help people and Pokémon recover, they don't match the restorative effects of a healing move from a Pokémon skilled in treatment, which can even heal hidden injuries.
This explains why so many trainers and sailors on the ship eagerly sought Sato's assistance.
Sato knew he couldn't refuse these requests; doing so would likely offend them. Besides, he didn't mind using this as an opportunity to make new friends—as long as the "friends" were genuine, he was open to it.
Because Sato knew that every new friend he made increased his safety aboard the St. Louis.
After the Gyarados attack, Sato no longer believed the ship was absolutely safe. Until he could ensure his own safety at sea, he had to rely on some external support.
Moreover, this kind of healing service wouldn't be free. Sato could certainly charge a reasonable fee for his treatments, and he was confident that as long as his rates were lower than the Pokémon Center's, they'd gladly pay in PokeDollars.
