CH17 – How to gain Exp
For Arlott, the next two days passed by in a blur.
Sleeping for approximately 20 hours a day, he had little time to do anything else.
Usually he just spent the rest of the time eating, talking to Claire, freshening up and then sleeping again.
After spending the lazy 3 days of his life, Arlott yawned as he opened his eyes.
"Haa~ 3 days should be over now." He murmured in sleep, his hand curling around his blanket and hugging it.
During these days, his and Claire's relationship had improved, though the dynamics remained the same.
Claire still carried the conversations, with Arlott occasionally talking in between and a lot of information was forwarded by Claire to Arlott, who was quite unknown about normal things.
"Time to get back to work,"
Although he said so, he made little to no effort in getting up from his bed, fully integrating the habits of his lazy days into his real routine.
These were the days where Arlott honestly compared himself to the kind of person he used to be, before everything changed.
From barely sleeping to always sleeping, the sin of sloth was surely taking a toll on his mind.
*SLAP*
With a burst of motivation, Arlott slapped himself on his cheeks and opened his eyes.
'3 days are over. Enough lazing around.'
He brought out the status page of his system.
[ You have completed the quest: Rest for the Wicked.

'No wonder I felt weird after waking up…' Arlott chuckled slightly as he stared at the Magic stat, feeling untapped power coursing through his veins.
He checked his core, and as expected, a new circle calmly revolved around his heart, making Arlott smile widely.
Finally, he was also a 4th circle mage.
'Now my physique is barely average for a 4th circle mage and my magic is only at the entry grade for a 4th circle, if I want to execute the duke, I need more power.'
But for more power, he needed more quests with free stats.
'Or I can buy some items from the marketplace.'
Arlott opened the marketplace and then sighed, the skills and attribute section was still locked and his funds weren't enough to afford even the cheapest special sloth item.
Though, seeing the IP gain section, Arlott was given a pleasant surprise.
[ IP Gain Split:
25 IP/hr - Sleeping
10 IP/hr - Laying
5 IP/hr - Sitting
1 IP/hr - Standing or Slow Walking
0.1 IP/hr - Jogging
No IP rewarded in case of any other strenuous exercise, namely fighting, training, running, swimming. ]
From what used to be 20 IP/hr, sleeping now rewarded him with 25 IP/hr.
'Level up, huh?' he chuckled.
'5 IP at level 0, 10 at 1, 15 at 2, 20 at 3 and now 25 at 4.' Arlott calculated, 'Means every level up in my sleeping skill means an addition of 5 in my IP gain… sweet!'
Still, despite the pleasant surprise, Arlott was still stumped by the major issue, the issue of powering up.
He had little to no control over the quests, as they always popped up randomly, but IP gain and expenditure was in his hands completely.
"Level up… how can I level up?" Arlott turned to the floating system window and questioned.
[ … ]
As expected, he was ignored quite blatantly.
"System. How can I level up?" Arlott asked again with a more serious undertone in his voice, expecting it to work.
But he was left standing in the middle of the room with an invisible hologram open and not a single noise in his surrounding.
He could imagine the crickets chirping as he stood waiting for a response, a response that never came.
'Ugh, let's try this.'
After getting no response in the voice command, Arlott began to touch the system window hoping that it might change something.

~ New items for the sloth exclusive tab in marketplace unlocked. ]
Arlott grinned slightly looking at the opened tab in front of him.
'Using the system, acquiring IP or completing quests.' Arlott repeated what he read, 'I thought leveling up would take a lot of practice, but it turns out all I need to do is use the freaking system?'
'Then I would have leveled up automatically in a while after I slept enough and gathered the exp required.'
Though, now Arlott knew how to hasten the process.
'Since it wants me to use the system, what better way to use the system other than using the marketplace?'
Grinning widely, Arlott brought out the marketplace and opened the food tab.
The cheapest tab where he could buy a loaf of bread for as low as 1 IP.
In a mood to experiment, Arlott bought 5 loaves of bread for 5 IP.
[ 5 x Loaf of Sweet Bread: 1 IP each
Total: 5 IP ]
And just like that, 5 loaves of bread appeared on Arlott's bedside table, with the sweet aroma of wheat.
With a golden brown tinge, the bread looked freshly baked and delicious.
"Let's see if the bait worked.'
Arlott grinned and walked towards the table to taste a bread, while pressing the level button on his system page.
Once again, the same level up page opened.

'Heh, it worked.'
And it really did, that too better than expected.
Rather than increasing the exp based on the cost of the product, the exp increased on the basis of the number of products bought.
Arlott guessed that considering he didn't level up when he bought the potions back in the Zordian Duchy.
Regardless, he now knew exactly what to do in order to level up.
'36 fresh loaves of bread coming right up.'
