Before the warm morning ejected its bright sun through the horizon, Lucian arrived home with his regulated thoughts.

But he was like a broken doll who just wanted to rest.

Seated at the dining room table, he checked the changes on his [ Status ] and pondered.

So, by leveling up, some of my stats will increase randomly. On top of that, I'll gain Unallocated Stats, one for each level.

After thoroughly inspecting the description behind these stats, Lucian learned that LUK couldn't be increased by leveling up, but rather through unallocated stats.

In addition, the perk he had received after completing the penalty under the guise of compensation was a marketplace solely for him, and that Death Points were its only accepted currency.

Moreover...

"Is this for real...?"

Fortunately, after surviving the Penalty Zone, the corresponding quest of that day would be invalidated.

This meant that after sending the soul of Kim Sana to Gehenna's Bosom, or what Lucian declared as the false heaven on earth, the newly generated yet the same [ Daily Quest ] was instantly completed.

[ Choose your reward among the following: ]

[ 1. Five (5) Unallocated Status Points ]

[ 2. Random Death Box (?) ]

[ 3. Random Life Box (?) ]

[ 4. 10,000 Death Points (DP) ]

[ 5. Awakener Kim Sana's Main Skill: Chameleon's Disguise (F) ]

[ Reminder: The unique reward, Kim Sana's skill, will not appear in the subsequent reward completion of Daily Quest. Choose wisely. ]

...

"I can have her skill..."

Does it mean when I lead an Awakener's wandering soul to eternal rest, the system will give me the option to have what was theirs? Isn't this madness?

Lucian recalled the 5-minute duration of disguise, an ample amount of time to perform something discreetly, especially when the possessor had the capability.

"But I wonder what are these life and death random boxes... Well, I should get them later."

Pondering over the rewards, Lucian, after a considerable amount of time, had finally decided.

"I'll take the skill."

[ Ding! ]

[ Unique Reward: Chameleon's Disguise will be accepted as your Daily Quest reward. ]

[ Finalize your decision? ]

"Yes, I've decided."

[ Ding! ]

[ You have received the Skill: Chameleon's Disguise! ]

[ Chameleon's Disguise (F) ]

Description: [Let your eyes be the mirror of the change you want to be.]

Effect #1: [ Upon consuming a small amount of mana, change your entire body structure based on the identity of the person you desire to temporarily become. It will wear off in five (5) minutes. ]

Skill Restriction #1: [ After imitating the appearance of the desired person for the full duration of the skill, you cannot disguise again using the same identity for 30 minutes. ]

Stigma Unique Effect: [ As the sole Eternal-Class Necromancer, you can use this skill on an undead creature with your authority, but under the same skill restriction.]

Skill Cooldown: [ 20 minutes. ]

...

"Stigma Unique Effect... That's a new one. Is it because of my Stigma, maybe?"

Muttering alone the seemingly apparent answer, Lucian didn't expect to receive an answer.

However...

[ Ding! ]

[ The Remnant of Damnation nodded. ]

Lucian trailed, his gaze on the frame showing the message.

It was the mysterious entity that had been bugging him, who presumably bestowed him this curse of a system he never asked for.

I dreamed of being an awakener, but there was no way in hell I'd anticipate it to be like this...

Never expecting any proper response, as he inwardly grimaced at the bizarre and agonizing experience he endured so far, he refrained from asking a question or two and neglected it before proceeding to browse the [ Death Store ] that seemed to contain everything an awakener would need.

And the first thing he looked for, which he gratefully found...

[ Skill Book: Pain Nullification (E) ]

[ Cost: 10,000 DP ]

Apart from that, there were higher-ranked skills with the same effect, at the very least.

[ Skill Book: Holistic Preservation (S) ]

[ Cost: 1,000,000 DP ]

...

"I have ten thousand DPs right now..."

Lucian calculated how many days it would take for him to purchase the S-rank skill if he also acquired the DPs as rewards from the Daily Quest. Luckily for him, based on the Death Points description, he could also gain them by slaying monsters (outside of Penalty Zone) in any dungeons or during Shadow Wave and from any entity who harbored hostility toward him, which included, in fact, humans.

For now, let me settle for this one...

His right index finger clicked on the [ Buy ] button, and after confirming it...

[ Ding! ]

[ You have purchased the Skill Book: Pain Nullification (E) ]

[ You have spent 10,000 Death Points. ]

[ Current Death Points: 0 ]

The skill was simple; ten percent (15%) physical pain reduction from any form of physical harm.

I guess it's better than nothing, at least for now.

The next thing Lucian did was to settle the remaining Unallocated Stats, which he all poured on LUK after consideration.

"Now then..."

Lucian stood from where he was seated, stretched his arms wide, yawned, and spoke.

"Time to sleep."

After entering his bedroom, Lucian didn't notice the door across, where his sister's room was situated, creaked open.

Samantha, who was supposed to sleep in her own villa, went home last night.

***

Where was he all this time?

Did he visit the vacation house? But why?

As far as she was concerned, only silence remained in that area, along with the rustling of thriving wildlife.

Samantha shook his head.

"I can just ask him."

With her resolve, she simply left her bedroom and instead prepared a meal for her brother who rested late.

While preparing a delicacy or two, she couldn't help but inwardly mutter, her mental voice serene.

Mother... We're going to visit you, right... Oppa?
