Chapter 3 - PROPOSING TO HER

LORENZO

I checked my phone to see a message from Marcello, "I am here now man,"

I stormed out of the bathroom and glanced toward the bed to see the lady was gone.

"The fuck how was my drink spiked last night?" I growled and he sat on the bed pulling out his phone.

"This…" I snatched it out of his hold immediately to check.

There I saw a guy in a mask beside my drink at the same time I was having a meeting with Domelio, the reason why I had come to the club in the first place.

"How about the girl picture I sent to you this morning," He retrieved his phone and tapped on it for a while.

"Isabella Valentine Alessandro," I glanced at him wondering if it was the same Alessandro I knew of and he nodded his head.

"Fucking hell! So I can finally get my hands on him now?" A bit of hope came through for me.

"You want to know the interesting part?" I bobbed my head awaiting it.

"She is the prosecutor in charge of the case that you are having an issue with," I narrowed my eyes in shock.

Now recalling how she sounded professional seeing the pistol with me.

"Fucking hell I should have shot her when I had the chance to," I growled.

"26 years old, red hair 5ft… hmm… she is the girl I can enjoy having on my bed," Marcello let out rubbing his hands on his chin as he stared at her picture.

I smacked his head making him groan, "What the heck dude? You already spent your time with her now is mine."

I glanced at the bed, recalling it was her first time, "She isn't the kind of girl," I let out a bit of calm.

"What?" Marcello asked as he stared at me confused, "You now want her more than you want Rosaria?" I smacked his head again making him groan.

"Delete her information from your phone and I never want to see you close to her," I warned, my voice coming out more stern than I can imagine.

"Hey, man! You finally saw someone you can use in getting back at Alessandro," Marcello let out but I wasn't fine with it.

"Yes, and I am doing it my way, not the crazy thought you have in your head," I wore my wristwatch and glanced down at him.

"Finish off the bastard who spiked my drink, and as for the girl that should be here last night find out about her."

He stared at me the way I had dressed, "You got this today, where are you going?"

"To the court," I answered, my eye met with something on the floor.

It was a necklace she had on this morning, "Are you crazy, everyone knows I should be the one there, you don't want them starting to believe you work illegally do you?"

"I need to see her one more time and seal some deal," with a small smile I took a long stride out of the room, with my finger wrestling the pendant.

********

"Dude! You can't let that land go, you know how much worth of fucking product we got underground?" Marcello grumbled under his breath as we walked out of the conference room.

I glanced back at him, "Yeah, I do.."

"And you are leaving it without a fucking fight?" I nodded again, my mind tracing back to the different kinds of expressions she mustered at each conversation.

"Emilio… who is he to her?" I asked and he sighed.

"Her husband?" I whipped my head toward him, "What?" My heart dropped at this news.

How would I have her if she is married already? "And why the fuck would a married woman be on my bed this morning?"

"That I don't know, you never let me read out her whole information," I stretched my hands forward.

"Hand it over," but he raised his hands in surrender.

"Oops, I deleted it…" I punched him right on his face before he could say more, and turned back into the building.

"Where the heck are you going?" Marcello asked, holding his busted lip.

"To her," I answered, not looking back. "You don't even know her office," I stopped as he walked past me and also stopped.

"Lead me there," he sighed tirelessly and led me to her office.

He pushed the door open and I almost lost it when I saw the chairman Salvatore reprimanding her for taking action against me and Emilio stood there without saying a word.

Emilio saw me and gulped down nervously was about to get his attention but I stopped him.

"Isabella Alessandro you are thereby fired from the firm," Salvatore announced and I noticed how the light suddenly dropped from her face.

Salvatore turned to leave and then his gaze met mine making him bow instantly.

"Mr Matteo.. I don't see you there…" I strutted toward him, and this time I saw the look I hadn't seen since I met her.

Sadness, exasperation, and more I couldn't pinpoint, anger boiled within me seeing how she looked.

"You can leave," I instructed and he immediately walked away after bowing.

"Miss Alessandro hun?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Heard you are married, how come you are still with your last name?" I asked and I noticed how Emilio cleared his throat behind me.

"Well, I was but not anymore," she answered, staring directly at Emilio.

I bobbed my head at this, "So does that mean I can take over his position if that space is empty?"

"Mr Matteo!" They both called in shock and I smirked.

"Does marriage look like a joke to you?" She fired at me and I rolled my eyes.

I strutted toward her gently "You were on my bed this morning," her eyes widened, as she glanced at Emilio.

"And I get to find out your ex-husband couldn't do his job as a man, so what do you think I make you mine."

Lifting her face, I was captivated by her radiance. Her eyes were a mesmerizing blend of emerald and sapphire.

Soft tendrils of hair framed her face, highlighting her delicate features.

A subtle blush graced her cheeks, enhancing her natural beauty.

Her lips, I could recall how soft they were last night.

Her body trembled a bit under my touch, and I smiled at this

"Get married to me, and I will make you have a great stand in this firm," I announced and she slapped my hands off her face, shooting me an odd look.

"Now I get it, you are crazy." she burst out laughing, as did Marcello and Emilio.

"Did I say something funny?" I asked and the smile wiped off her face.

"Wa… wait you mean what you said?"

"Do I like someone who jokes around?" I asked as she gave me an odd stare.

"I would be willing to transfer my share of this firm to you if you agree," I gazed deeply into her eyes.

"Dude!" Marcello grumbled quietly.

Emilio approached us, "Mr. Matteo, you should reconsider. She's just a divorcee, and I doubt the divorce papers are final."

I turned to Emilio, narrowing my eyes, "How do you know all these details?" I implored forcing him to say the truth about him being her husband.

"She's not worth your time, Mr. Matteo. If the land issue is bothering you, we can sort it out," he suggested, causing me to scoff.

"Is it true that you're not divorced?" I asked her but her eyes were still on Emilio and this irked me.

"Eyes on me, Solo Mia," I said, my voice slightly hoarse.

"Yes, I am completely divorced, and there's nothing left between my ex-husband and me," she confirmed.

"Mr. Matteo.." Emilio called and I glanced in his direction expecting him to talk.

"You can't just propose marriage to her that way," I sneered at this, still not willing to say to the world he was once married to her.

"So give some answers," she scoffed at this, "Mr Matteo.. I will think about your offer." Greedy, just like her father, I shoved my company's card into her palm.

"I will be waiting for your response, Solo Mia,"

I winked at her and exited her office.
