Chapter 14 - Practising

Sometime later, kiyota arrived home. He was pacing back and forth in his room, thinking to himself.

'Let's start with the Chidori. Siri, open skill panel.'

Name: Chidori

Description: Created by Kakashi Hatake, the Chidori is a technique that allows the user to gather and coat their hands or weapons with lightning.

----

'Alright, let's try it.' Kiyota thought as he went to his backyard.

Kiyota put out his left arm and concentrated. His left hand was pointed towards the air.

'Nothing's happening.' Kiyota thought, slightly disappointed.

Kiyota started flailing his hand around.

"This is harder than it looks." Kiyota complained.

'Maybe I should focus on the chakra point. That's how it's done in the anime, right?'

Kiyota began focusing reiatsu to his palm, but nothing was happening other than his fist feeling a tiny bit hotter.

'Hey Siri, why isn't it working?'

"Reiatsu is a substitute for Chakra, as you know. Chidori takes quite a bit reiatsu to pull off. The reiatsu stat needs to be at least 120." Siri said.

'What?' Kiyota was confused.

'Siri put all remaining stat points into reiatsu and open status panel'

'Even after putting all of my stats into reiatsu I still only have 115. That's not enough for the Chidori.'

"New mission received, check status."

"What?" Kiyota mumbled, as he opened the quest details.

----

Quest: Learning to gather Reiatsu (Meditate for 30 Minutes)

Reward: Nothing

----

"Huh?" Kiyota was a little surprised.

'This is the first time I've gotten a quest that doesn't reward me anything.'

"Well, I should try it."

Kiyota sat down on the grass and crossed his legs. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

'I guess I'm supposed to meditate...'

As soon as Kiyota started meditating, he was transported to a white room inside his mind.

"W-what? Where am I?" Kiyota was confused.

Nothing but silence greeted him. Kiyota's voice was instantly muffled. The room was dead silent. Slowly after looking around kiyota spotted a pure white butterfly. The butterfly obliviously fluttered around without a care in the world. It was hard to spot the butterfly in the room due to its colour. Kiyota was intrigued by the butterfly and moved closer to it. He reached out his fingers and touched the white butterfly. The butterfly shattered like iridescent glass and turned into white mist. The mist floated around kiyota and got slowly absorbed by him. Kiyota felt a warm sensation in his heart. After the mist was fully absorbed into him, Kiyota spotted a few more butterflies.

"I see..."

'So this is a part of meditation.'

Suddenly a notification appeared in his view.

"Reiatsu: 116/116"

'This is a very convenient place. It's quiet and there aren't any distractions. I can easily concentrate.'

Kiyota started touching more butterflies, they were scattered all around. Kiyota noticed a few of the butterflies had a golden aura surrounding them.

'Must be important.'

Kiyota tried to touch the butterflies with the gold aura, but his fingers went right past them. These butterflies were intangible.

'Well, doesn't matter. I'll come back later and figure it out. For now, I need to focus on getting my reiatsu higher. I don't have much time until the hollow attacks Orihime.'

After a while, Kiyota stood in the middle room, scratching his head.

'I've gotten around 250 reiatsu, but I've got no clue how to get out of here. Is there a button or something?'

'Siri, any ideas?'

"Just think about what you were doing before you got in here." Siri answered.

'I was meditating...'

Kiyota sat down on the cold white floor and closed his eyes. He tried to remember the situation. After a while, his vision went black, and then he opened his eyes. He was back in his room.

"I'm back." Kiyota breathed a sigh of relief.

Kiyota immediately stood up and checked his reiatsu.

'Siri, open status panel.'

The hologram popped up in front of Kiyota.

'Perfect!'

'I think I have enough reiatsu to do the Chidori now. Let's test it.'

Kiyota once again focused his energy, attempting to channel his newly increased reiatsu into his right hand. He concentrated, visualising the crackling electricity of the Chidori technique he had learned about. At first, nothing happened. Kiyota furrowed his brow, determined to make it work. He pushed more of his reiatsu into his palm, feeling a tingling sensation begin to spread through his fingers.

"Chidori!" Kiyota shouted.

Suddenly, a small blue spark appeared in the centre of his hand. It flickered weakly at first, but as Kiyota maintained his focus, it grew stronger. The spark expanded and covered his hand, forming into a light blue chain of electrical energy that emitted a faint chirping sound.

'I did it!' Kiyota thought excitedly, watching the Chidori run along his palm.

Kiyota got into a boxing stance and threw some jabs into the air. The loud chirping whirring past every time he threw a punch with his right hand.

'Oh my god, this is awesome.' Kiyota was filled with joy.

'Let's see if I can hit something now. How about the pillar.'

Kiyota threw his right hand towards a brick pillar in his backyard, the chidori flying through the air. When it made contact with the pillar, the electricity exploded, causing cracks to appear.

"Yes!" Kiyota was very satisfied.

Kiyota spent a few minutes practising his Chidori, using it against the brick pillar, before he got tired.

'That was great, I've got a decent grasp of the Chidori. Now, time for the genjutsu.'

"Siri, open skill panel."

----

Skills

Name: Basic Genjutsu

Description: Used to create false images and/or trick the body into believing it has experienced physical sensations such as pain.

----

'Let's see... So I assume, in order to use genjutsu, I have to gather my reiatsu somewhere and project it into reality.'

Kiyota focused his thoughts, attempting to gather his reiatsu as he contemplated how to use the Basic Genjutsu skill. He closed his eyes, concentrating on channelling his energy towards his mind.

'Something simple to start with.' Kiyota thought.

He visualised a small, white butterfly fluttering in front of him. Kiyota directed his reiatsu outwards, trying to project the image into reality. A faint shimmer appeared in the air before him. It flickered and wavered, gradually taking the shape of a translucent, white butterfly. The illusory insect's wings moved slowly, almost lazily, as it hovered in place.

Kiyota's eyes widened in surprise. 'It worked! It looks the same as the ones in the white room.' he thought excitedly. The butterfly wasn't perfect, it lacked detail and seemed slightly out of focus, but it was undeniably there in front of Kiyota.

He experimented further, attempting to make the butterfly move around the room. With considerable effort, he managed to guide the illusion in a small circle before it dissipated, the strain of maintaining the genjutsu becoming too much.

Breathing heavily, Kiyota grinned. 'That was harder than I expected, but I did it. I created an illusion!'

He realised that while the Basic Genjutsu skill had potential, it would take significant practice to use effectively in combat. The illusions were fragile and required intense concentration to maintain.

'I'll need to work on making the illusions more convincing and easier to control,' Kiyota mused. 'But this is a good start. Between this and the Chidori, I'm definitely more prepared for what's coming.'

Feeling a mix of accomplishment and fatigue, Kiyota decided to rest for a bit. He knew he'd need all his strength for the challenges ahead, especially the impending Hollow attack on Orihime.

Kiyota took a final look at his backyard before heading back inside. The sun had set, and it was starting to turn dark. The pillar had a huge hole in it, the concrete and bricks cracked and broken from the force of his Chidori. It was a bit charred around the hole, indicating extreme heat. Kiyota sighed and shrugged. He was sure his grandma would kill him if she found out.

'It's a good thing I moved out. Not a big deal though, I'll pay someone to fix it up.' Kiyota thought as he made his way into the house.

A few hours later it was fully dark. Kiyota stepped out of his house, locking the door behind him. He was wearing black pants and a black hoodie.

'Time to go.'

Kiyota looked at the sky, the full moon shone brightly.

'I should arrive just in time.'

Kiyota started running towards Kurosaki clinic, hoping that everything would go smoothly.

'Orihime's brother... I mean, the hollow is going to show up where Ichigo is first. Hopefully, he doesn't do something stupid like rush in. He will be fine, Rukia's there. I should be able to handle a small hollow, right? I'm gonna end it right there and then.' Kiyota though to himself as he arrived at Ichigo's house. Kiyota went up to the front door and ringed the doorbell.
