Chapter 26 - Prelude to Chaos

The roaring wind lashed against Eva's face as she hurtled forward, her speed breaking the sound barrier. Her resolve burned brighter with every step. "Zarek, I'll avenge you, even if it's the last thing I do," her thoughts echoed with unwavering determination.

With a fierce leap from the ground, she soared through the air, her eyes locked onto Namior. His piercing blue gaze widened, a spark of excitement flickering in them. "Perfect," Namior muttered, his lips curling into a grin. "You humans might actually entertain me for a while. Now, come."

Eva gripped her staff tightly, her battle cry tearing through the air. "Haaa!" Her weapon descended with immense force, colliding against Namior's golden spear. The impact sent a shockwave across the battlefield, a gust of wind kicking up debris. Namior's grin widened as he effortlessly deflected her strike.

Eva didn't relent. She launched another strike, this time aiming for his neck. Namior's spear intercepted her attack again, his movements precise and almost mocking in their ease. Each clash of their weapons echoed with thunderous bursts of air, the sheer force of their combat sending ripples through the battlefield.

Namior's grin turned feral as he noticed Eva's narrowed gaze, her strikes becoming faster and more calculated, each one targeting his vital points. The battlefield seemed to shrink around them, their weapons weaving a deadly dance in the air.

Suddenly, Namior's spear lashed out, aiming straight for Eva's face. Her reflexes kicked in, and she tilted her head to the right just in time. The spear's speed was so great that the wind it sliced a shallow line across her cheek, her side bangs flaring from the gust.

Namior wasted no time, his spear arcing toward her head with lethal precision. Eva ducked swiftly, her movements a blur. The spear whistled above her, missing by inches as her focus remained razor-sharp.

Eva moved back cautiously, taking a few steps to create a safe distance from Namior. Her chest heaved as she steadied her breath, her mind calculating her next move.

Suddenly, Namior's piercing blue eyes narrowed as a chilling sensation crept up his legs. A cold fog began to swirl, and the ground beneath him shimmered as it froze over, transforming into a flawless, icy surface. The glow from the surrounding crystals reflected off the frozen ground, making it appear like a mirror.

From a distance, Kai's voice rang out with authority, "Icy Ring!" His skill coated the battlefield in frost, aiming to immobilize Namior by freezing his legs in place.

Namior let out an amused chuckle, his expression tinged with annoyance. "How quaint," he muttered. With a single fluid motion, he swung his spear downward in a wide arc. The weapon's sheer force shattered the icy floor like delicate glass, shards scattering in every direction.

Kai didn't falter. Launching himself into the air, he called out with a determined grunt, "Icy Shard!" The air around him shimmered as thirty glimmering, jagged spears of ice materialized, far surpassing his previous limit.

With a fierce motion, Kai directed the icy spears downward, sending them raining toward Namior with deadly precision. The attack was relentless, the shards cutting through the air like missiles.

Namior's form became a blur as he moved at incredible speed, his golden spear spinning like a whirlwind. Each icy spear was either deflected with precision or evaded entirely, the high rotation of his spear creating a barrier of destructive force around him. Shards of ice scattered harmlessly to the ground, the sound of their collision reverberating across the battlefield.

Kai landed back on the ground, his breath heavy but his resolve unshaken. He glared at Namior, his icy weapons failing to break the Valtarian's unyielding defense.

As Namior successfully neutralized Kai's attack, his eyes instinctively darted toward Eva. Her bow was drawn, the tip of her arrow glowing a fiery red, casting an ominous light. Her voice was steady, determined, as she called out her skill. "Flarefly."

The arrow, blazing like a flare, shot toward Namior with blinding speed. As it closed in, the arrow burst into countless smaller projectiles, each streaking through the air like glowing dragonflies, swarming toward their target.

Namior let out a low grunt, annoyance thick in his tone. "Pathetic." Without hesitation, he channeled his mana into his spear. A radiant golden aura enveloped the weapon as he spun it in a wide arc. The sheer force of his motion created a barrier of golden energy, redirecting the arrows mid-flight. They veered off course and detonated harmlessly around him, filling the battlefield with dark smoke.

The smog swirled and thickened, momentarily obscuring Namior from view. He stood amidst the chaos, his voice cutting through the smoke, laced with irritation. "Is that it? Is that all you humans have? Was that supposed to hurt me?"

But his triumphant mockery was short-lived

From within the smoke, Eva's voice rang out, sharp and defiant. "No, that was just a distraction."

Namior's eyes widened, his expression shifting to one of genuine surprise. The smoke began to dissipate, revealing Cain, already several steps ahead, his sword raised high. The air around him crackled with energy, and a deep purple mana coursed through his blade.

Cain's skill radiated a fierce intensity, the very ground beneath him trembling. Pebbles floated into the air, caught in the gravitational pull of the immense mana emanating from his body. His voice carried the weight of unyielding resolve as he activated his skill. "Absolute Division."

With a single, devastating motion, Cain brought his sword down in a sweeping arc. The slash tore through the air, a crescent of raw power racing toward Namior. The force of the attack carved a path through the rocky ground, sending debris flying as it surged forward.

Namior barely had time to react, caught off guard by the speed and precision of the strike. His eyes narrowed, his grip tightening on his spear as he braced for the impact. The arc of purple energy closed in, a storm of destruction threatening to consume him.
