There was nothing in sight, no matter how hard Vidit tried to see. All around him was the eternal and endless cosmos, filling his heart with astonishment.
He had known what he would experience once he stepped inside the portal. However, knowing and seeing were completely different. The magnificent view was etched in his mind.
'This is just the most wonderful sight, but I doubt it is as beautiful as it looks.'
Vidit knew about the horrors this beautiful sight hid. As these thoughts passed through his mind, his body suddenly turned lightweight and began to fall into the darkness of the cosmos.
He didn't panic and simply enjoyed the sight while waiting for his arrival in the Nexus Plane. It didn't take long before his fall stopped and his surroundings blurred.
Vidit sighed, knowing he had arrived at the Nexus Realm. However, something was giving him the creeps. His heart raced as he looked around in confusion.
'What is this place? Ruby didn't mention anything like this,' Vidit frowned.
All around him was a strange white mist that was getting closer with every passing second. He knew that after a short glimpse of the cosmos, one would be sent to a random location in the Nexus Realm. However, his case clearly seemed different.
[Congratulations, Gamer. You have arrived in the home of myriad races, the Nexus Realm.]
Hearing an emotionless voice in his mind, Vidit grew even more confused. Nexus AI had announced his arrival, so did this mean he was just in a weird place? However, no matter how hard he tried to convince himself, he felt fear.
He knew Nexus AI wasn't unfair and would definitely send Gamers to a place where they could survive. Then why was he sent to this strange place that clearly screamed danger?
'I should look around,' Vidit was wary of the white mist, and as much as his body told him to stay away from it, he tried to walk, choosing a random direction. However, he soon discovered something that sent chills down his spine.
He couldn't move.
No matter how much he tried, his body refused to budge from its position as if something had locked it. His blood ran cold as he realized he was doomed. The white mist was almost upon him, and he couldn't even move an inch.
Vidit tried to think of anything he could do in this situation, but nothing came to mind. His eyes darted around, feeling his scalp go numb as he saw the white mist touch his skin.
'Fuck! What kind of bullshit is this?' Vidit wanted to curse, but his mouth was also locked in place.
Suddenly, a horrific premonition arose in his heart, something he was familiar with. Knowing what it meant, he closed his eyes, which was the only thing he could do in this situation. His heart was beating rapidly, and his mind worked at a speed he didn't think was possible.
But closing his eyes seemed to have worked as the shadow over his heart lifted slightly. He would have been happy, but the situation didn't allow that.
His body was now completely immersed in the white mist, and his thoughts were began to slow and muddle without his knowledge. His guard dropped as he tried to think but even forming a sentence was proving to be impossible.
"Vidit, open your eyes, dear!"
'Mom...'
Vidit's thoughts were already muddled, and when he heard the familiar voice in this situation, a warmth spread through his heart.
This situation...
"Open your eyes, dear."
Vidit's eyes fluttered despite being under the strange constraint. His brows furrowed slightly as he seemed to be in some kind of battle. His eyes turned into slits and then returned to normal as if they were going to open.
"Open your eyes, dear."
'Mom... why are you so insistent on making me open my eyes?'
A sudden assault on his mind made all the fog shrouding it dissipate. Clarity returned to him, and cold sweat formed on his forehead as the gravity of the situation dawned on him. He had almost lost himself just now.
'What would have happened if I opened my eyes?' Vidit felt a chill remembering the feeling a few moments ago. Somehow, he didn't want to find out what would happen if he opened his eyes.
"Open your eyes, dear."
"Open your eyes, dear."
Vidit felt his hair stand on end as he tried his best to suppress the fear he felt. His mother was mute, and he had never heard her voice, so why was he finding this voice familiar? Not to mention, how would his mother be here?
'Phew! I almost fell for it,'
Vidit tried to calm his mind, but the murmurs and voices had grown in number. He could hear all sorts of voices filled with anguish, agony, and torment. The worst part was that the voices were familiar to him.
"OPEN YOUR EYES!"
"OPEN!"
The voices threatened to break his mind as they sounded from every side, filling his head with nothing but pain. He knew they weren't real, but even then, he couldn't help but listen to them. His thoughts had already started to slow, and he couldn't even remember himself anymore.
'No! I am Vidit. I have a beautiful mother, and I also have the number one beauty as my fiancée. I am Vidit,' Vidit knew that if he let things go as they were, he would lose everything. That was why he constantly reminded himself of the life he had.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Vidit's grip on his mind began to loosen. He was only an ordinary human, even if considered a prodigy, so the voices won and began to consume his consciousness.
Suddenly, a hard object touched his hand, which felt completely different from the feeling of the white mist. He unconsciously clenched his hand around it and felt as if an ant had bitten him. However, he wasn't in a condition to observe such things. His mind was already on the verge of being erased.
Just then, an electric shock passed through his body, making his veins bulge out and his eyes shoot open. Clarity returned to him, and the first thing he did was close his eyes again.
Sweat dripped from his body as if he were a river's source. His chest rose and fell rapidly as he tried to catch his breath. It took some time for him to calm down and analyze the situation.
He remembered the sight he had seen in the short period of time he had opened his eyes and sighed in relief. His heart raced as he cautiously opened his eyes, finding himself in an abandoned cave.
Relief washed over him, and his mind finally relaxed as he knew he was out of danger. He knitted his brows and thought, 'What was that? I almost lost my poor life.'
He went through the knowledge he had of the Nexus Realm but couldn't find anything similar. What he encountered was too bizarre.
After thinking about it for a few minutes, Vidit gave up, "Whatever! It's best not to remember it. I'll just ask the old man when I get back."
He felt better thinking about that and sat up. His gaze wandered around as he tried to see where he actually was. Unfortunately, he could find nothing in the dark cave aside from the uneven walls of rock and the two torches hung on the wall.
He was just thinking of going deeper into the cave when he heard a sweet, seductive chuckle.
"Fufu! I didn't think a brat like you could survive the Voices of Void. But it's also good. My wait is finally over."
