I never thought it would come to this—standing in a courtroom, my heart pounding so loud I can barely hear the judge call the case. Xaden sits across from me, his jaw tight and his eyes sharp as knives. I can feel his gaze drilling into me, as if he's daring me to break under pressure.
But I won't. Not now. Not when Asher's future is at stake.
The judge's gavel echoes in the room, silencing the murmurs around us. My lawyer leans over and whispers, "Stay calm. We have everything we need to win this."
I nod, but my fingers tremble under the table. Xaden has resources—money, influence, and a team of ruthless lawyers determined to make me look unfit to raise my son. And he's pulling no punches.
