Xaden:
My gaze was fixed on the ceiling, pondering why my inner wolf had stayed silent since I handed Zina the divorce papers and rejected her. Clearly, he was upset, and I was bothered, too.
I had expected Zina to grasp onto my dress, begging and wailing until her eyes were sore, but she didn't. She only signed and left, as though she'd been expecting it, and It only meant one thing—she was genuinely guilty of what she was accused of. I couldn't bring myself to dwell on that.
Deciding to end things with Zina wasn't my choice—it felt like my only option to protect what I'd worked hard for. The thought of that embarrassing video circulating throughout the pack was unbearable.
Jerking me out of my thoughts, Trina's cologne filled my nostrils and when I spun around the door, my eyes almost bulged out of its sockets. Her enticing mini gown accentuated every curve, and my gaze lingered on her face, staring into her green orb eyes.
She approached me with a seductive aura, cupping my face gently before leaning in for a kiss. In that moment, I realized she embodied everything I longed for in a woman, and I eagerly looked forward to building a family with her.
I smiled and gently pulled her hands off my face, while standing up. She scrunched up her face In disapproval of what I had just done.
" How did you get that video?" I asked, not that I cared, but just wanted to know if I could visit whatever club she worked at, and catch her red handed.
"What video?" She crossed her arms, and rolled her eyes away from me nonchalantly.
"Really? Don't play games with me, Trina! You know what I'm talking about!" I shouted, and she staggered back in fear before reluctantly speaking up.
"Uh, my friend in the RedMoon pack sent it to me. She recorded it when she met her, and..." She paused, shaking her head.
"She mentioned seeing her almost every time she visits there, can you imagine?" she said nonchalantly, prompting a disapproving click of my tongue in response.
As soon as the name was mentioned, something struck me – the RedMoon pack?
That's on the east side of the country , and it was a six-hour journey. How could she visit there every night and still wake up every morning to work, and prepare my food?
Something didn't add up. Was Trina lying to me?
"What? I told you nothing but the truth," she responded wearily, noticing the intensity of my disapproving gaze.
"Look Xaden, Zina is nothing but a whore, a slut and a liar . It's best you forget her," my wolf, Ray,who had been silent, suddenly whined angrily at her words. It felt like pulling out its claws and tearing her apart, but I suppressed him.
my senses when her soft, tender lips suddenly met mine. Pulling away for a moment, my eyes inadvertently peeped through her cleavage.
I knew I was hurting Zina, but I couldn't help it. Trina seemed superior to Zina in every aspect, and I couldn't wait to make Trina my Luna, believing we would rule the pack together and thrive. However, I was wrong.
Days turned into weeks, then months and years since I made Trina my Luna to erase Zina from my mind and give me what I had always wanted, a child. Yet, nothing improved, even though she bore me a child. It felt as if Zina had been a sort of a good luck charm for the pack, and since she left, so did the good luck.
I felt miserable without her. It was as though she only had the key to my well being, and now that she was gone, I was completely losing my mind. Trina didn't make things easier for me, either, as she was always nagging, complaining and getting on my nerves every fucking time.
We faced constant attacks, plagues, and nothing seemed to get better. Even the pack doctor, whom I believed had cures for everything, couldn't heal those who were constantly sick.
Each passing day felt more bitter, and when I tried bringing Zina back to restore the lost luck, she was nowhere to be found. No trace of her or her family.
Of course I went in search of her, and realized A new Alpha took over her father's pack, now called The Crystal pack. For the first time, I was genuinely concerned about her and what could have possibly happened.
Tears slowly trickled down my eyes as I stared at my mother's picture on my phone. The genuine smile captured in that image was a stark contrast to her current state. Her smile that shone so brightly, revealing her perfect set of teeth, seemed to have waded off, and was now replaced with a dull one.
"Alpha, Alpha!" I heard James' voice from afar, and I quickly wiped away any trace of my tears off my face.
He bowed and panted incessantly upon standing, prompting me to tell him to take several breaths. He must have run quite a distance.
"Beta, what is it?" I asked once his breathing had slowed.
Yes, my former Beta, Jared, who was very intelligent and had solutions to almost every problem, also left the pack, once he realized that Zina was gone. I was so stupid to have let Zina slip off my hands.
"Doctor Sean finally acknowledged our letter, and she's decided to treat your mother!" I stood up almost immediately upon hearing James' words. It was genuinely the best news I'd received in a long while.
Doctor Sean was renowned as the best doctor in the country, with numerous successes and accomplishments, including rumors that she could possibly raise the dead. We had sent her countless emails and letters seeking help for my mother, who was in a terrible state, but never received a response. Now that she had responded, excitement shot up my body and my once dull face was replaced with a very bright one.
"But we have a problem," James said, and I felt my heart skip a beat.
"She isn't willing to come to this pack, so she requested we bring her to her pack where her hospital is, in two days' time."
"That isn't a problem, James. We'll move in two days, so just get Mum ready because the pack is quite far from here," I said, and he immediately scurried out of the room.
I brought out my phone and stared at my mother's picture once again. Finally, she would be getting treated, and I would give up anything for Doctor Sean just to see my mother smile like that again.
