Zina POV
I sat stiffly in the witness box, my palms damp as I gripped the edges of the seat. The courtroom felt colder than it had a few minutes ago, and I had to remind myself to keep breathing. Across the room, Xaden sat with his arms folded, that smug, infuriating smirk plastered across his face like he had already won. His lawyer, Mr. Reid, paced slowly, flipping through his notes like he had all the time in the world. My stomach twisted, but I forced my chin up. I wasn't going to let them see me crack. Not today.
Mr. Reid finally looked up, and his sharp eyes locked on me. "Ms. Zina," he started, his voice smooth and fake, "let's talk about the video evidence you submitted. You claim it was recorded in your home. Is that correct?"
"Yes," I said, keeping my tone steady even though my heart was racing.
"And why exactly did you install cameras in your house? Was it strictly for security purposes, or were you expecting something to happen?"
