Getting discharged from the hospital felt surreal. Ms. Daisy came in early, carrying a clipboard and a plastic bag with my personal belongings that had been throughly cleaned. She smiled sympathetically as she went over the paperwork. The hospital gown I had worn for what felt like forever was replaced by my own clothes, slightly crumpled from being stuffed in a bag.
"I'll miss you two. You really brightened up the ward," she said.
"Don't miss him too much," Ethan demanded.
"And if you ever need to get away from him you can always come to me, Kyle. Of course after you turn eighteen," Ms Daisy winked.
"Kyle doesn't like old women."
"Charming!" She rolled her eyes. "That's really going to make you look good in front of your partner, being rude to a public service worker like that."
Ethan froze up for a second. "Kyle already knows how bad I am anyway."
"That is true." I said.
"Here are your papers. Make sure you rest."
