Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Third Hokage's Resolve

The next day , I expected Monu and Akira to be basking in the glow of their achievement, maybe even taking a well-deserved break. After all, they had just gotten into the elite class. But to my surprise, when I arrived at the training grounds after class, there they were—already in the middle of a session, focused and determined.

I walked up to them, intrigued. "What's going on? I thought you'd be relaxing after all your hard work," I asked, genuinely curious about why they were training so soon.

Both of them turned to me, wearing expressions that were both sad and a little bit frustrated. "Why?" Monu asked, sounding hurt. "Don't you want us to train with you anymore, sensei?". They have began calling me sensi during our training, which i didn't mind and even found cute.

His words took me aback, and I quickly reassured them. "No, no! That's not it at all! I just thought you might want to take it easy after everything you've been through," I explained. "But if you want to keep training, I'm more than happy to work with you."

Their faces brightened, and Akira chimed in, "We enjoy training with you way more than just playing with the other kids. We've come so far, and we don't want to stop now."

Hearing that was heartwarming. It felt good to be valued, to know that my guidance meant something to them. Still, it was surprising to see such motivation in kids their age. Most children would have been more than happy to take a break after accomplishing something so significant. But not Monu and Akira. They were ready for more, eager to continue pushing their limits.

We dove back into our training routine, and I couldn't help but notice how much progress we had all made. Monu and Akira had grown remarkably since they first started training with me. Their movements were sharper, their stamina had increased, and their chakra control had improved tremendously. It made me reflect on how much I had learned as well, and I couldn't help but smile.

It seemed more evident now than ever—hard work really was the key to success. Talent might help, but in the end, it's persistence and effort that make all the difference. As a reward for their dedication, I decided to teach them both a new jutsu. "Today, I'm going to show you the transformation jutsu," I said, watching their faces light up with excitement. The energy in their eyes was electric, and it almost felt like they were shooting stars at me with their sheer enthusiasm. It was an incredible feeling, seeing how eager they were to learn something new.

For the rest of the day, we focused on mastering the transformation jutsu, and the excitement in the air was palpable. Monu and Akira determination and competitive spirits pushed them to give their all, and by the end of the session, they had already started to grasp the basics. It was a rewarding experience, not just for them but for me as well, knowing that I had been able to inspire and guide them along their journey.

In the Hokage's office, the atmosphere was tense yet focused as Sandaime Hokage reviewed the latest reports from the academy. His brow furrowed slightly as he listened to the details being relayed by the Sandaime's trusted advisor, who was going over the exceptional performance of our class. The numbers were impressive, and Sandaime couldn't help but feel a swell of pride in the next generation of ninjas.

"Can you believe it?" Sandaime mused aloud, glancing at the scrolls spread before him. "For a civilian-born child to achieve such results—it's a testament to their determination and talent."

As Sandaime continued to read through the report, he felt a pang of nostalgia. The mention of a civilian background reminded him of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, who had also emerged from humble beginnings to become a legendary figure. Curious about the young prodigy making waves in the academy, Sandaime decided he wanted to know more about this Satoshi.

After about an hour of deep contemplation, a figure entered the office, wearing a dog mask that obscured his features. It was one of the Anbu operatives, known for their discretion and efficiency. He handed Sandaime a neatly rolled scroll, bowing slightly before departing as silently as he had arrived.

Sandaime unrolled the scroll and began to read. As he absorbed the information, his eyebrows raised in surprise. The report detailed not only Satoshi's impressive training regimen and achievements but also his willingness to help his fellow classmates. Satoshi was not only focused on his own growth; he was dedicated to lifting others up as well. The Hokage felt a warmth in his chest, a reminder of the village's enduring spirit. He muttered to himself, "The Will of Fire lives on, burning bright in the hearts of our youth."

Just then, the door to the office creaked open, and a man wrapped in dark, heavy cloth entered. His presence was imposing, and Sandaime immediately sighed, recognizing him. "Let me guess, you came here for Naruto again," he said, his tone a mix of annoyance and resignation.

The cloaked figure, Danzo, bristled at the mention of Naruto's name. "You don't understand the threats we face, Hiruzen. You're being naïve!" he snapped, his voice rising with agitation. "That boy is a weapon—a powerful tool that should be used against our enemies!"

Hiruzen's expression hardened as he met Danzo's gaze. "Naruto is a hero of this village, a child who has done nothing but protect it since the day he was born! I will not let you use him as a pawn in your games. I promised Minato that Naruto would be treated like the hero he is."

Danzo's eyes narrowed, frustration evident in his posture. "You are not considering what is best for the village, Hiruzen. You're blinded by sentimentality!" His voice dripped with contempt as he tried to persuade the Hokage, but Hiruzen stood his ground, unwavering in his convictions.

The tension in the room was palpable as the two leaders faced off. Danzo's anger was seething, while Hiruzen's resolve radiated from him like a shield. Both knew that their ideological battle would not be settled easily.

In the end, Hiruzen's voice rose above the tension, echoing with authority. "Naruto is the hero of this village, and he will be treated as such! This is my final decision." His words hung heavily in the air, a firm declaration of his stance.

Danzo, clearly irate but recognizing the futility of continuing the argument, turned to leave, his expression a mix of anger and determination. "We will see about that," he muttered under his breath as he exited the office, leaving Hiruzen alone with his thoughts.

Sandaime sighed deeply, reflecting on the weight of his responsibilities. Protecting Naruto and ensuring the boy's rightful place in the village was more than a duty—it was a promise to a friend and a commitment to the ideals that shaped Konoha. As he looked out of the window, the sun set over the Hidden Leaf Village, casting a warm glow that reminded him that even in the face of darkness, hope would always shine through.
