|Delilah's POV|
.................. After the Exile....................
'Exile.'
'Exile.'
'Exile.'
Shaking my head as my vision swirled around and all I could see was the darkening sky and the trees that formed canopies around me. 'Make it stop'
My heart rose and dropped as my feet kept on moving on their own accord. I was desperate to find shelter and get away from the darkened forest before the rogues would eat me up.
'Am I cursed?' I reasoned.
It was sufficient that I didn't have parents and someone dropped me in a basket at the Alpha's doorstep. Now I am all alone again, fighting for my life. I have never been away from the pack and now suddenly I am being throw-
"ARRRGGGGGHHHH!!" I screamed as I felt a sting on my leg. The scorpion raised its tail once more, ready to strike. I stomped on it multiple times without thinking about what to do next.
Beads of sweat had started forming, and I looked at the area that was starting to swell up. I knew for sure now that I wouldn't even be able to come back for revenge when I heard multiple growls around me.
The scents that hit me were intense, primal, and unsettling. A whiff of decaying leaves symbolizes their disconnection from the natural imbalance. Their rebellious spirit surrounded me as I took two steps back hurriedly.
"Oh, my goodness. I can't believe that even though I look homeless, I am wanted by many. Did I walk into a reverse harem thingy?" I chuckled nervously.
Maybe I had a death wish because it was usually in dire situations that my sarcasm decided to show up like winter during Christmas.
"I promise you, I am not as tasty as I look. I am like a forbidden fruit. If you have a bite, y'all will die." I advanced backward as they stalked in my direction. Their salivas dripped heavily as they bared their yellowish canines at me.
"At least, wait. Let me say my last prayer." I pleaded, as my heart started racing frantically.
The realization that nobody was going to save me dawned on me when a wolf suddenly pounced on me. My voice echoed in the forest as I felt like I had punctured my lungs.
"Help!!" I cried out hopefully before sprinting out of their midst with my injured legs.
An earth-shattering growl resounded, and it felt like the rogues cowered back in fear in response to my cry for help. Exhaustion took over me as darkness consumed me and I fell to the ground with a thu-
................... Flashback Over...............
FOUR YEARS LATER
An ear-deafening scream jolted me out of my memories. "DELILAH!!!"
"If you don't get your big-fat-for-nothing ass out of that bed in five minutes. I swear I will leave you out." Linda, the wife of the general who saved me from the rogues, threatened.
'Isn't it lovely when your favorite person in the world wakes you up?? Just that it won't be anymore. If Lady Dragon comes back the second time, the next thing she will do is spit fire.'
Before long, I was looking at the grand castle, the grand ball where the beas- I meant the ruthless assholish Lycan King would be choosing his mate.
"Do not cause trouble there, all else. I will feed your bones to the shifters." Linda reminded.
The general chuckled, saying, "Oh, I think the Alpha and Luna of her previous pack will keep her too occupied."
Shaking my head, if only they knew the storm of revenge brewing in my mind. ' Too occupied.'
Filling in the entrance of the room, I took in the grand decoration as I looked around. Lots of people gathered there and focused on the podium.
A sting on my arm snapped my attention back to the ball. "Seems your jaw dropped."
"Good day everyone, I welcome you to the grand ball of the seaso-" The angelic voice that belonged to the host pierced the air, so peaceful and serene.
My wolf whined in my head as I felt a tingly sensation in my body. My heart stopped as I glanced around frantically, only to be drawn into the oceanic eyes of my rejected mate and my best friend clinging to him like a paid mannequin.
I hated him, but I couldn't deny how his boyish features had developed over the years. Although that wouldn't stop me from killing him if I was given the opportunity.
My hands trembled with rage, and I clenched my fists so tightly that my nails dug into my palms. The pain was a welcome distraction from the emotional turmoil.
My jaw tightened, and I could feel the heat rising to my face, my vision narrowing as I focused on the couple who had shattered my trust.
Every shared laugh, every intimate glance between them, was like a dagger to my heart. The betrayal was a bitter pill to swallow, and it left a taste of resentment in my mouth. I wanted to scream, to confront them, to make them feel the same pain they had inflicted on me.
I glared at the wineglass that was held by my best friend badly. As the liquid in it started bubbling, my best friend's grip on the glass loosened, causing it to drop to the ground and spill the drink all over Violeta.
She had dropped the wine glass because it had become so hot. "OW!"
All heads turned towards them, and the ushers rushed in their direction. Their red faces brought little satisfaction to me.
"You don't ever do anything right, do you?" Ryan yelled at Violeta.
"Well, some people are having fun already. Enjoy the rest of the evening." I tuned in to the hostess's voice again.
Claps and chuckles filled the atmosphere as she left the podium. Greetings and mingling blurred as my wolf piqued up.
I could feel someone piercing holes into my skin as it thrummed with tingles. Turning my head in the direction. 'Wow. He is surely the most handsome man I have ever seen.'
His grey eyes, a raging tornado that looked deeply into my soul. He cocked his head in an animalistic way. A blaring alarm goes off in my head as he stalked in my direction.
'Oh fuck me, why am I always the target of crazy people?' I wondered as I walked quickly, entering the midst of different people in other to get away from the lunatic.
Electricity surged through my veins as a large paw engulfed my wrist, and he growled. "Where do you think you are going?"
"Away from you, you lunatic." I yelled. My face reddened with embarrassment as everyone gathered around the stupid neon light fixated on us worsened the situation.
Shaking my wrist and trying to release my hand from him was as difficult as breathing in the corset dress Linda was putting on. His eyes were fully black with no trace of white, a glimpse of his protruded fang sent another danger alert to my brain.
"I never knew handsome men could be crazy till I met you." I speculated. All of a sudden, gasps and whispers filled the atmosphere.
"Is she crazy?"
"Does she have a death wish?"
"Wow, she is very audacious."
"Fuck, she's very daring. Calling the ruthless Lycan King a crazy man?"
"OHHH FUCK ME!" I whispered.
