Chapter 2 - Time To Learn A Litte About The World

"So, that's what happen." Ardent said to himself, finding a good reason for why 'Ardent' suddenly dead. In a way, he was glad as he did not kill the owner of the body.

"Though, why did I suddenly get inside his body? Should he not just die?" it may seek cruel for him to say it but he could not fathom any reason why he suddenly transmigrated. He did not even get a face-to-face meeting with Truck-kun.

"Well, that happen. At least now I know something about this world." Frankly, it is a lot to digest.

The world he was in is Earth, at least from the map of Europe as well as the one globe the lesson hall possessed. Yet, it was not the same Earth as his.

The first changes is that this Earth should be in the 1200 to 1300 AD or so to use from his previous world. However the development of technology far surpass his Earth during that time. Which brought int point 2, Magic.

This Earth possess Magic Energy, or Mana. Which is helpful as it is a common term use in many manga which he read should he had the time to do so.

As he learned from the lesson hall, Mana is something everyone possessed, yet not many can use, being the ratio of Mana User, or Mage to make things simple to the population being 1 to 100, and with some places even 1 to 1000.

However, them being rare made Mages a rare and valuable commodity with many nations wishing to increase the number of Mages in their hands if they could. One of the way being recruiting those with potential living in the boonies. Like him.

Speaking of living in the boonies, his home is located in what he believed to be the east of France, close to the border of his world France and Germany.

As for the rulers, there seem to be no nation build as of yet in the territory of France, Germany and Poland, with some other nations likely sharing the same fate.

Well, he was not surprised as the presence of Mana changed a lot. It may even change a thing or two about religion, with the most likely being that Abrahamic religion might not exist in the Earth.

"I should rest for now, and maybe digest the information I learn for now." he said to himself before going back the sleep, to recover from the reliving of 7 years worth of memory.

When he woke up and come down, his mother was both surprise and happy to see him. He almost get crushed by the hug of the older woman, which he barely dodge death.

"Ardent, you're alright!" the woman, Grace, his mother, said in pure joy. At the distance, his father, Rowan, shared the same expression but much more subdued.

"Do you feel fine? Is everything still hurting? Does your head still hurt?" Grace asked with great concern, looking all over him with worry.

Ardent let the inspection occur, as he knew it is the only way to get his mother to calm down. When the quick check reveal nothing wrong, on the surface at least, she sighed.

"We will call the village healer. He might find something we might miss." Rowan said, putting a hand on Grace's shoulder and getting her to stop fretting over their son.

Ardent give his father a relieved smile, though he did wonder if he might be acting to grown-up.

'Oh, it will be fine.' he decided. He remember seeing how mature Ardent could be despite being only 7 years old. Growing in a Medieval/Renaissance period seem to stimulate the growth and independence of the children with the maturity of those of 7 years old being the same as his previous Modern Earth 13 or 14 years old teenagers.

'Though, if they knew I could use Mana,' he was slightly worried about that. After all, Mages are rare, but knowledge about them is widespread as it allow a screening to be done and many wishing for their children to be one.

It also made certain knowledge like the fact a quick development to use Mana causing death immediately is well known. In fact, it had a term used by everyone, namely Mana Development Death.

Consider to be a silent killer due to the disease striking out of nowhere. If the village healer manage to sense his ability to use Mana, it might lead to him being questioned, which he did not want to happen.

'Wait, I'm being paranoid. They would not do anything like that, except for maybe putting me under surveillance or so.' he consoled himself.

'Plus, there is a possibility the healer is a quack who used remedies that might work without knowing the reason.'

His hope of the village healer being a quack was quickly destroyed as the man quickly perform a checkup on him, not different to the one he had in his previous life, with the sole exception being the lack of modern equipment to help him.

Still, it did not deter the doctor (he refuse to call the man a healer due to him being close to doctor more than anything) to examine him, before looking at his parents.

"There seem to be nothing wrong, but I have some suspicion." he took out a small piece of paper, one he did not know anything about, though it was similar in length and shape of a litmus paper.

"This is a Mana Detection Papper. I will use this to check if he suddenly develop the ability to use Mana or not." the doctor said with a serious look. Unseen to the adults, Ardent's breath took a step hike at that moment.

"But, doesn't this early on might mean he might have the Mana Development Death?" Grace asked with a worried tone.

The doctor shook his head, "Mana Developmenf Death is not a disease. Well, not a disease we know of. It is called Death for the reason it killed immediately, leaving no sign at all.

Your son still being alive meant he did not contract it, but it could be related to Mana, so I decide to test it first and see if there is anything wrong." the doctor answered in methodical tone, which make Ardent realized, painfully, that it would be hard to fool the doctor completely.

'But, that does not mean I can give him a little fib.'
