Chapter 44 - marvel 44

Back at Alubarna, the Baroque Works agents were stationed on the west side of the city, each covering one of the gates. Their eyes scanned the desert horizon, waiting for any sign of intruders or suspicious activity. These men were under strict orders to prevent anyone from entering the city and disrupting Crocodile's plan to overthrow the kingdom of Alabasta.

Unbeknownst to them, a much greater force was already approaching from the desert—one they were completely unprepared for. Max's army, the embodiment of Dread Night, was closing in, and with them, a storm of chaos was about to break loose.

They have been waiting here to intercept Princess Vivi and Straw Hat pirates to prevent them from informing the king there is no rela and hat is all the Baroque studio work to take over the kingdom under the scheme of Crocodile.

'Meh, Crocodile is an idiot who thinks his Sand-Sand fruit is enough,' Max thought while leading his army through the desert. 'I wonder if he even has a Haki training manual.' He had read about Crocodile, a former Warlord who relied heavily on his Devil Fruit powers. Crocodile's arrogance blinded him, believing his sand abilities could handle any situation.

"He lost his hand once, to Whitebeard, and now he's back at the start of the Grand Line, too afraid to return to the New World," Max mused, shaking his head. Crocodile's overconfidence had been his downfall. If he'd trained in Haki, maybe he would still be in the New World, standing alongside other powerful pirates. But no, even after his defeat, Crocodile never learned Haki.

"I just hope he has the Haki training manual," Max thought, looking ahead as Alubarna came into view. It was the city where the king's forces and rebel forces would soon clash, and they were heading toward the west gate, where the Baroque Works agents were stationed.

"Hmm, the Straw Hats learned a lot while battling Baroque Works, but now I'll rob them of that chance. Oh well, it won't matter. Once I start my massacre, none of the Baroque agents will be left to trouble anyone," Max thought coldly. As he considered his plans, he remembered the Celestial Dragons, whose cruelty and arrogance disgusted him even when he read the manga. Now, he relished the idea of killing them.

"Once I'm done here, the Celestial Dragons will have a new nightmare to fear."

"Then once again, the Marine's focus will shift onto me, not on the Straw Hat Pirates," Max mumbled to himself, a faint grin on his face. The aura of malevolence surrounding him caused the others to unconsciously distance themselves, sensing a dark and dangerous power emanating from him.

"Scary," Usopp thought, eyes wide as he glanced at Max. Even Zoro, who was usually unfazed by threats, felt a certain unease. This wasn't the usual bravado or casual strength they were used to seeing—it was something darker.

"I don't know who this guy is," Sanji whispered to himself, "but he ain't someone to take lightly." The group could all feel it—Max was more than just powerful; he was willing to crush anyone standing in his way without hesitation.

"We are here," Vivi said as Max looked ahead. The city of Alubarna loomed in the distance, and standing in front of them were the Baroque Works agents, their eyes narrowed as they sized up Max and his group. Despite the imposing presence of Max's undead army and the fierce aura surrounding him, the Baroque agents held their ground, confidence etched into their faces. They were well-trained and fully believed in their strength, especially under the leadership of Crocodile.

Max, unfazed, glanced at them briefly before turning to Vivi. "They have no idea what's coming," he said calmly. His eyes glowed with a quiet intensity as his undead knights lined up behind him, ready to march at his command.

Vivi looked at Max, sensing the tension in the air. She knew the battle that was about to unfold would be nothing like what Alabasta had seen before.

The Baroque agents exchanged glances, seemingly unbothered, but there was a subtle unease in the air as they watched Max's army. They hadn't expected this kind of opposition, but their pride wouldn't allow them to retreat without a fight.

"Time to make a move," Max muttered.

Max glanced at the Straw Hats and Vivi, then turned his attention to the Baroque Works agents standing guard near the gates of Alubarna. The tension in the air thickened, as the agents subtly readied themselves for the confrontation ahead.

"You all go ahead with Vivi," Max said, his voice steady but commanding. "I'll hold off these clowns." He gestured to the Baroque agents without even a hint of concern.

Sanji looked like he was about to protest, but Zoro, already sensing Max's strength, placed a hand on his Sanji's shoulder and shook his head. "Let him handle it. We need to get to the palace."

Vivi nodded in agreement, urgency in her voice. "We don't have much time. The civil war is about to start, and we need to stop it before everything falls apart!"

Max's eyes briefly flicked over to the Straw Hats. "Go. These guys are nothing."

Reluctantly, the group agreed. Usopp, Sanji, Zoro, and the others followed Vivi as she led them toward the city, leaving Max alone to face the Baroque Works agents.

As the Straw Hats disappeared into the distance, the Baroque agents moved forward, each one stepping into the spotlight to showcase their powers. Their confidence was palpable.

Mr. 1, the towering, muscular man known as Daz Bones, stepped forward first. His body began to gleam as his arms turned into blades, revealing his Supa Supa no Mi ability, the power to transform his entire body into steel. "You think you can stop us alone? Big mistake." His voice was cold and sharp, much like the blades he wielded.

Beside him, Miss Doublefinger moved with a lethal grace. The spikes that emerged from her body were part of her Toge Toge no Mi powers, transforming her into a human porcupine. "Let's see how long you last against me."
