"Can we take a break?" I asked Arlo as I leaned on a tree that was next to me. My heartbeat was unusually fast, and my back was drenched in sweat. We have been walking in this godforsaken forest for the past four hours.
"You are already moving like a slug, and if we stop, we will never reach there on time," Arlo said with a straight face and this made me glare at him. "I told you to stay at home. You are the person who insisted on coming with me."
"You know, when your mate complains of fatigue, you are supposed to comfort her, not mock her."
"You know very well I don't do all that bullshit, Bella. Now, are you going to come or not?" Arlo asked me. Taking in a few deep breaths to calm myself down, I began to follow him again. The deeper we walk into the forest, the atmosphere starts getting darker.
