Alpha Arlo Bianchi - POV
My senses heightened as I looked around, when another arrow came towards us, and this time, it was directed towards Bella. "Watch out!" I yelled as I grabbed her shoulder and pushed her out of the way. The arrow missed her, but it pierced my chest as I fell to the ground beside her. "Rogues! Eastern border!" I growled in my mind link while I quickly wrapped my hands around Bella and pulled her closer to my chest.
I can hear her erratic heartbeat and smell her fear. "I will not let anything happen to you. Calm down, Bella." I kept mumbling soothing words into her ears as I felt her body tremble in my hold. Five more arrows zoomed past us, and I know that this is not the best place to stay. My eyes scanned my surroundings when I saw the rock where Bella was seated a few minutes ago. I pulled her away from my chest as I forced her chin to look up.
"Do you trust me?" I asked her, and she nodded her head. I quickly got up from the floor and carried her in my arms as I ran towards the rock and hid behind it. A couple more arrows flew past us, and right at that moment, I saw my warriors enter the field and run toward the intruders.
"Alpha Bianchi, are you all right?" Jacob rushed to my side, and I nodded my head as I let my mate go. "Oh my!" Jacob exclaimed as I looked down at my chest. The white button-up shirt I was wearing was covered with blood, and I could still feel the blood oozing out.
With shaky hands, I grabbed the arrow, and before Jacob could say anything, I pulled it out, laid back on the rock, and closed my eyes. As the adrenaline wore off from my bloodstream, I was able to feel the burning pain as the silver traveled through my veins. "We need to get him to the hospital," Bella yelled as I saw the tears run down her face.
My body was starting to heat up while I felt the poison gradually burn every blood vessel that it entered. I have been stabbed, bitten, and even burnt before, but having a silver arrow pierce the heart, is a first for me, and I hope this is the last as well.
Isabella Martini - POV
"Arlo! Arlo, can you hear me!" I screamed as I roughly shook his shoulder, but he was slowly losing consciousness while he shut his eyes. I felt my heart painfully squeeze while my body heated up as well.
"We need to get to a doctor," Jacob said, and I nodded my head as I moved away so that Jacob could help him up.
As soon as he was on his feet, I moved toward Arlo's left side and held him against my body as we walked toward an SUV that was waiting for us. After placing him inside the vehicle, I got in, and Jacob made his way toward the front seat, we were soon off.
"Nothing would happen to you, Arlo." I kept mumbling as I stroked my fingers along his jawline. As the SUV came to a screeching halt, the back door was pulled open, and soon Jacob grabbed Arlo and took him towards a stretcher.
Just as they reached the operating room, they closed the door behind us while I stood there staring at the door. I didn't know how long I was standing there, but my legs started becoming numb and my eyes ran out of tears. "Luna Bella." I turned around when I saw Sofia standing there with a pitiful look on her face.
"You should go and change your clothes and take some rest," she advised, but I shook my head and walked towards an empty chair, and took a seat.
This is all my fault.
I knew that the arrow was aimed at me, but I didn't understand why Arlo would push me out of the way. I thought he hated me, and he didn't even like the sight of me. Then why on earth save me?
I looked down at my pastel pink dress to see that it was covered in blood, Arlo's blood.
Please be okay, Arlo. I silently prayed as I closed my eyes and leaned back in my seat.
"Luna Bella," I opened my eyes when I saw that I was still in the waiting hall. I looked toward Jacob, who had a tired look on his face. "It's been three hours. Why don't you go home and freshen up before coming back here?" he asked me, but I shook my head.
"Bella, I…" Before Sofia could finish her sentence, the double doors to the operating room were pushed open and all of us got up from our place. A few nurses were pushing a bed out, and when my eyes zoomed in on Arlo, I felt my heart nearly come to a stop.
There were silver veins all over his skin while his eyes were still shut closed. They quickly pushed him out of there as the doctor walked out. He looked at all of us before he turned around to face me. "Luna Bella, we are very lucky that the arrow did not pierce his heart."
"Is he all right, doctor?" I asked him.
"Only the moon goddess can save him now, Luna Bella. Since the arrow struck him too close to his heart, there was just too much silver mixed in his blood right now." the doctor said in an apologetic tone as he nodded at both of us before walking out of there.
"You should go and take some rest, Luna Bella. I will be by his side till you come back." Jacob said, and I nodded my head. I didn't know what to do or how to save my mate. He may be the ruthless Alpha, but to me, he is my mate, and after risking his life to save mine, I know that I am not going to give up on him no matter what.
