Chereads / Ascendancy (Luca's kingdom) / Chapter 4 - Insurrection

Chapter 4 - Insurrection

The night air was thick with tension, the sky above Valleria ominous with its dense clouds hanging low. Streetlights flickered in and out, casting long shadows over the corners of the city. Luca walked calmly through the alley, his hands in his pockets, but his mind racing with cold, calculated thoughts. There was no room for hesitation tonight. His steps echoed as he neared the meeting point.

It was about Dante's revenge. That's what everyone else thought but it was more than that.It was about control and respect. Luca had a lot of pride, and he worked hard for it. Vince thought he was untouchable, sitting pretty with his crew like they ran the school. That delusion was about to come crashing down.

At the edge of the school grounds, Elio and Rocco were already stirring up chaos. They spotted a few members of Vince's gang lounging near the entrance to the football court, leaning lazily against the brick wall. Elio cracked his knuckles while Rocco's sharp eyes scanned the area, his tall, lean frame tense with anticipation.

Elio made the first move, shoving one of the guys hard into the fence with a grin. "Hey, Vince's little lapdogs, you tired of licking his boots yet?" he taunted, his voice echoing off the walls.

"Yo, what the fuck, Elio?" one of the kid shouted, startled.

"It's called betrayal, you sheep," Rocco added with a smirk, stepping in with a quick jab that sent another member stumbling back.

Without hesitation, the two attacked. Elio moved fast, using his bulk to overpower his opponents. He shoved one guy into another, dodged a punch, and landed a powerful kick that sent someone gasping to the ground. Rocco, in contrast, fought with precision. His lean frame darted in and out of reach, each punch and kick landing with deadly accuracy. They weren't holding back, but they also weren't going all out—this was bait. If it had been a real fight, every one of Vince's guys would be on the ground, broken.

Just as expected, their commotion drew attention. Within minutes, Ronnie and Josh came running, yelling for backup and puffing out their chests as if they were about to save the day. Ronnie, with his bulkier build and tanned skin, looked ready to charge, while Josh, the quicker of the two, kept his distance, assessing the situation.

"Stop fucking around, Elio! Have you lost it?" Josh shouted. "I'm calling Rocco right now."

"You won't need him," Rocco sneered from behind, stepping out of the shadows with a confident smirk. "We're right here."

Josh froze, confused. "Rocco? What the—"

Ronnie, impatient as always, lunged at Elio, his temper getting the better of him. "That's better," Elio taunted as he sidestepped the punch. "At least this one's got half a ball. Not a pussy like you Josh"

Elio and Rocco continued to dance around their opponents, landing blows but never fully committing to the fight. They were stalling, keeping Ronnie and Josh busy while drawing more of Vince's crew toward them. Josh, despite being cautious, couldn't figure out what was going on. He knew something was off.

"Are they stalling for backup? Or just stupid?" Josh muttered to himself, slowing his pace, eyes darting around.

Elio and Rocco kept the chaos alive, expertly keeping Vince's main muscle distracted—right where Luca needed them to be.

Meanwhile, Luca moved toward Vince's usual hangout—a worn-down, secluded playground on the outskirts of the school. The rusted swings and old slides gave the area an eerie, forgotten feel. It was quiet, almost too quiet, as Luca approached. The place had a single entrance, and Luca knew it by heart.

As he walked toward the main gate, the muffled laughter of Vince and his gang floated through the air. They were lounging around, not suspecting a thing. Luca pushed the gate open, the creak of metal catching Vince's attention mid-laugh. His grin faded as his eyes locked onto Luca, whose expression was unreadable but dangerous.

"Well, look who decided to show up," Vince called out, his voice oozing false confidence. "What do you want, Luca?"

Luca didn't answer at first. He took in the scene—Vince's boys, laughing and joking just moments before. A smaller crew than usual. His actual heavy hitters were elsewhere. 'Elio's doing his job,' Luca thought. The numbers were in his favor tonight.

Luca stepped further onto the playground, each step slow and deliberate, the tension building with every move. He stopped just a few feet away from Vince, his gaze dark and cold.

"You think you run this school?" Luca's voice was low, steady, and filled with an authority that silenced the playground instantly.

Vince shifted uneasily, but tried to play it cool. "Yeah, I do. What's it to you?"

Luca didn't waste time. His fist shot out, connecting with one of Vince's boys, sending him flying to the ground. The impact was brutal and quick, shocking the others into action. But Luca had already calculated the fight. With the narrow confines of the playground and fewer numbers to face, this would be over fast.

Two came at him at once. Luca ducked under a wild punch, grabbed the attacker's arm, and flipped him hard onto the ground. Without pause, he pivoted and drove his elbow into the stomach of the second, making the boy double over in pain. He didn't even have time to register the third coming at him before Luca turned, slamming him against the chain-link fence with enough force to rattle the entire structure.

One of Vince's remaining guys hesitated, unsure of whether to fight or flee. His confidence evaporated as he watched Luca dismantle his crew. Luca's strikes were precise, calculated—he didn't just want to beat them; he wanted to send a message.

The last one tried to run. Luca didn't even let him get far. He grabbed the kid by the collar and threw him back onto the dirt, knocking him out cold.

Now, it was just Vince left. Luca turned his attention to him, his cold gray eyes locking onto Vince's. The playground had gone eerily quiet, the only sounds were the shallow breaths of the beaten gang members lying on the ground.

"You think you're king here, Vince?" Luca asked, his voice barely above a whisper, but filled with icy finality.

Vince, who had been backing up, bumped into the metal bars of the playground fence, his face pale. "What are you doing, man? This is crazy. You don't want to do this. You know who my cousin is?"

Luca took another step forward, calm and composed. "I'm doing exactly what I need to. It's too boring to watch you play thug, idiot. Atleast, you should've kept it to yourself"

Vince's eyes darted to the exit, but there was no way out. He was cornered, his boys down, and the aura Luca exuded left no doubt who was in control. Luca's cold gaze was fixed on him, and it felt like the world was closing in on Vince.

Without saying another word, Luca advanced. Vince threw a wild punch in desperation, but Luca caught it with ease, twisting his arm and sending Vince crashing to the ground with a single, powerful motion. Vince gasped in pain, clutching his shoulder, completely helpless.

Luca loomed over him, his voice low but powerful. "The school's mine now. Tell your boys—tell everyone. It's over." He took Vince's arm, caught his elbow.

"What are you doing, Luca? Stop it. Don't do this. Its a mistake. Take it. Take them all. I didn't actually break Dante's leg. It was actually Pierro"

Luca pushed his arm with full force, no hesitation. Like a hunter looking at his prey.

"This from both Dante and me. Never forget it."

"AAAAAHHH FUCK YOU LUCA"

With one strong kick to Vince's face, Luca turned and walked away, leaving Vince broken. He finished the job. By tomorrow morning, Vince's reign would be nothing but a memory.

Took some time. Was trying to keep it as realistic as I could with a decent plan. Hope I could deliver.
