Chapter 11 - 11. More Villagers?

'Aaaahh yesterday was a pretty busy night at the game, but today I think things are back to boring but also comforting normal.'

I thought about this later a little before starting my smartphone with Divine's Journey installed.

And right away I swallowed that thought.

Today is another day off for me, but like anyone who lives in a super connected society I've learned to set times to do homework, take care of my body and screen time... Or at least I try to do that, going for a walk or run in the morning and tidying up the house (tiny apartment) a little after breakfast and then staying almost the rest of the day logged into or after gaming sites.

My defense is that I only have about 2 hours of free time to play during a week, and I consider myself a good player, 2 hours is almost nothing in comparison.

So on weekends and holidays I tend to exaggerate a little in my games, well more in Divine's Journey, but I still do my obligations as members of society, take care of my home and my health, so a bit of an addiction isn't necessarily harmful is not a big deal, right.

....

Anyway, I decided to see how things were going since yesterday's incidents and what happened back at the plantation after I sent lightning at the scout goblin.

I was honestly surprised that none of the NPCs noticed, considering how their AI handled what happened to the nobleman and his knights. But this could also have simply been the game's script so...

As soon as the game started, the first thing I did was press the acceleration button or I would spend the next 20 minutes just watching them sleep. If something happened in the meantime?

Just turn off the speed and deal with what they came now I could either use the lightning as an attack or as a way to wake up the villagers, like if lightning struck right outside your window even if you're a heavy sleeper I'm almost sure you would to wake up.

And even if nothing came of it, there would still be about 3 sentries awake throughout the night and Punishment as a last resort.

Fortunately nothing happened during the night, and just before the sun reached Zenit (noon) one of the villagers discovered the seal left over from the goblin from last night, and immediately went to call the village chief. I didn't understand why it was some of the stars from last night who showed up, did they become famous overnight because of what happened or were they already well-known figures in the village?

This is one of the annoying things that the NPC interface doesn't show, but there wasn't much you could do in this case.

Soon they went close to a tree where the goblin had come from, and now looking a little better the tree had what looked like a white outline, usually this indicates something important in games to move the story forward, right? When I clicked on the tree a new message appeared.

[Marked Tree: This tree was marked by a member of the Grronb-Gruumb tribe as a marker for a new habitable location.

Warning: goblins have a habit of taking from others and devouring the weakest.]

Basically the new enemy will be a bunch of goblins who want to occupy the village and devour whoever they can.

Hmm, pretty basic actually.

But that doesn't make it any less dangerous, in general goblins are basic monsters that even untrained adults can defeat individually, but this can also change depending on which game or story you're reading. They usually appear at the beginning as basic monsters or at the end of the beginning as the beginning of medium monsters or even as medium monsters.

In addition, you also have to consider the gang factor and their variants, the more of them there are, the braver they become as they can send the weaker ones ahead, and the variants that generally include mages, etc.

Putting everything together, we can conclude that underestimating goblins is a direct path to death and from what we've seen in this game so far, when an NPC dies, he remains dead for good. Of course, so far I've only killed some wild animals, nobles and knights, but I think it's possible to get the beginning of an average with that.

While I was thinking about what kind of goblin this game would have, the 4 in front of the tree debated fervently (as I could understand from the emojis) and soon returned to the village and distributed tasks to everyone.

Moments later a signal ! It appeared towards the entrance of the village as soon as I clicked there I saw a real procession of people appearing.

At first I thought it would be an attack to avenge the dead noble, but I soon realized that that would be nonsense. It had barely been a day since he and the others died and there was no one left to ask for reinforcements. And as soon as I saw the state of their HP bars I realized that they wouldn't be a threat to the village, everyone had half their bars at best or 1/5 of them at worst, the worst being the NPC who led the group .

He was just one punch away from a game over.

As soon as they arrived in front of the village gate, one of the sentries ran out to warn the others of their arrival and soon the 3 from before appeared again.

From what I understood from the exchange of emojis, it seems that the newcomers were expelled from their village by a group of invaders or marauding invaders (yes there is a difference), but the worst part was that some still stayed behind to distract them and leave this group flee.

The rest is pretty easy to understand in context, another classic crisis leading to a moral choice, and considering what I've learned about these villagers they'll probably...
