It was a cozy winter afternoon when Bakugo and Deku found themselves with a rare week off from school due to a quirk-related incident that had left the hero course students temporarily grounded. Instead of staying at the dorms, where the mood was certainly less festive, they decided to head to Bakugo's house, where a cozy scene awaited them.
As they entered the living room, the sounds of laughter and the tantalizing aroma of something delicious cooking filled the air. Inko was busy at the stove, happily stirring a pot while sharing jokes with Mitsuki, Bakugo's mother. The two women were clearly having a great time, their laughter ringing out like holiday bells. In the background, Masaru was rummaging through the car, retrieving boxes filled with Christmas decorations.
Deku set his bag down first, a big smile lighting up his face as he called out, "Mom! Mitsuki! We're here!"
Inko turned, her face lighting up even more upon seeing her son. "Izuku! I'm so glad you came home for the holiday! And Katsuki too!" She rushed over to hug them both.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Bakugo muttered, slightly embarrassed by the warm welcome, but he couldn't hide the small smile tugging at his lips.
Once the greetings subsided, the boys joined the two mothers in the kitchen, where they were directed to help with the holiday festivities. Masaru came in with the first box of decorations, which they all eagerly opened up, revealing twinkling lights, ornaments, and a very cheerful-looking Santa.
Deku, feeling particularly festive in that moment, grabbed a piece of mistletoe from the box with a grin plastered on his face. "Hey, everyone! Look what I found!" he exclaimed, holding it up triumphantly.
Bakugo sighed and rolled his eyes, his cheeks slightly pink but playing it off with an annoyed huff. "You and your stupid traditions." As Deku began to hang the mistletoe above the doorframe, Bakugo watched with narrowed eyes, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Dinner's ready!" Bakugo called out as he turned to walk toward the kitchen, but just as he did, he caught sight of the mistletoe hanging, an impulsive idea striking him like a bolt of lightning.
"Deku!" he barked, but before Izuku could even turn around, Bakugo had crossed the room in a flash, grabbing him by the arm and yanking him close. Before any words could escape Izuku's mouth, Bakugo pinned him against the doorframe, the mistletoe dangling just above their heads.
"W-What are you doing?!" Deku stammered, eyes wide as he realized what was about to happen. But before he could protest further, Bakugo leaned down and pressed his lips against Deku's in a swift, tantalizing kiss.
Time seemed to freeze.
The instant their lips touched, a rush of mixed emotions flooded over Bakugo, filling him with warmth and a strange sense of rightness. Meanwhile, Deku's mind was racing; his heart was pounding with excitement, embarrassment, disbelief—mixed emotions swirling around as he processed the unexpected kiss.
Just then, their parents walked in, a tableau of surprise on their faces. Inko's eyes widened in sheer delight, a bright smile bursting forth as she clasped her hands together in joy. Mitsuki sported a knowing smirk, instantly piecing together what had transpired, while Masaru's expression was one of pride and happiness at seeing his son in such a light.
In the subsequent flurry of reactions, Inko squealed with excitement, "Oh my goodness! You boys! That was adorable!"
Mitsuki laughed outright, elbowing Masaru teasingly. "Told you he had a crush on him! Look at that!"
Bakugo stepped back, a fierce blush washing over his face as he sputtered, "Shut up!" But a small smile had crept onto his lips, betraying his usual tough demeanor as he shot a quick glance at Deku, who was still processing everything, eyes sparkling like the lights they were hanging.
Deku's face was burning red, a mix of embarrassment and happiness bubbling within him as he turned to his mom, who was still practically glowing with delight at the situation. "I—uh…" he began, stammering.
"Let's eat before it gets cold!" Masaru interjected, a broad grin on his face as he tried to diffuse the flustered tension.
As they all moved to the dining room, the laughter and warmth continued. Christmas decorations went up, an unspoken promise of a holiday more meaningful than any of them had anticipated. Amidst the joy, they were reminded that love could be found in the most surprising places, mixed with a hint of mischievous intent from Bakugo.
As the meal commenced, Bakugo and Deku exchanged shy glances, both of them feeling the undeniable bond that had just strengthened between them, a festive memory they would cherish for years to come.
