Chereads / Heavenly Virtues / Chapter 7 - “Ah! I Will Vent My Wrath On My Foes And Avenge Myself On My Enemies."

Chapter 7 - “Ah! I Will Vent My Wrath On My Foes And Avenge Myself On My Enemies."

"Freia?"

Florian uttered. "Ha..Huff..ha...!" He's racing with his breath upon seeing what the devil have brokened out.

"Get your hands off her, You piece of a shit! I'll surely kill you!" He cannot reigned off his nerves, and the overgrown patience in him got subbed out by the lingering wrath.

"Oh... Your little fella's a bit hot-headed. The likes of him of brimming passion would be suit for our crew." The devil feasted upon even in the wrath of the mere humans.

There's nothing more delightful than to throw gasoline to the small fire and see the rest burn into embers.

"You're good for nothing, you dip-shit! Fight us not on human blanket!", Ognar struck upon the devil's intention. There after, the three could not initiate their intentions.

Because who would have thought that a devil would be more coward to sink behind an hostage.

"For God's sake, hiding behind a petty human would bring you no-good, devil," Arzen gritted his teeth as he pointed out the devil.

"There's nothing to be feared off, humans." The devil continued its mishaps.

"This precious milady is a fine one for the feast or perhaps ritual." It giggles its malice out as it grasps the chin of Florian's sister.

Held captive by the devil, Freia's fate would be sealed in the hands of the exorcists' capability.

Despite how messed up her condition is, she still has her astonishing feats.

If I could insert in her description amidst the intense situation, I could say that she bears a distinctive trait from her brother, Florian. She has blondish long hair, a glass-gloss skin and pretty face.

She's wearing a middle-school uniform, probably she's also way from school, in the time she called Florian on the line and at the present moment where nightmare struck.

"Huff...hmmghhhhpp!!!"

The resistance in the girl's action could be seen where the devil's hand covering the way where she could release her voice, her mouth.

She's being strained, incapable to cower from the entity's restraint even though nothing could be grasped what actually is restricting her. It's as if her body have submitted in the constraint of the devil.

Florian cannot hold peace any longer. If it would be possible to move, he will move right away. If he thinks that he could swing his hand to the devil, he would dare it.

If he could have something of a weapon, strucking the clock would he act. If only he could awaken something like an ability or either strength to confront his fear, he would not take any second thought.

But then he realized that something like that would never happen.

"I know you were thinking things to defeat the devil, am I right?", Ognar could notice Florian's plead.

"Regrets will not settle out for you, that's why you want to put your life to stake for some heroic acts you imagined."

Ognar moved a few steps to the side and holds down his weapon. "But being heroic cannot be named in the act of something as foolish as rushing your life if you know that it is useless."

In the eyes of Florian, enough is enough.

"Fuck it! Why!? Why!? Why can't I do anything!? Why am I something like this!? Useless and coward. I letted all this things happen in front of my eyes? Why did Frank have to suffer like that? Even Sean, who's no good in serious things, in things like this. Why did William forgo himself just for me to live? Now it comes with Freia's life," Florian tortured himself of endless downgrades to what a being he is.

"My-... My legs won't move. Even in dire situations, I'm rendered useless as this. Why do people always on time just to save my useless ass? I cannot do anything. I'm so useless."

His legs are trembling in simultaneous fear. His in cold streaks of sweat and tears flow as the fate continues to press him in the most undesirable situation.

Meanwhile, a string of hunch struck the devil and it gives a reason to react. The devil stood its stance up straight and it raised its head to look upon the above. It opened its mouth and a wide grin appears.

"Haghhahhah!! At last! It is time for the grand scheme! Hahahggaha!!" The devil laughed in its delightment.

Due to its excitement, it deliberately pressed on Freia's body with its tight arm.

If only she could let out voice in her mouth, an unpleasant scream would be heard after the excruciating pain inflicted.

"Now for the last touch." The devil raised its hands and a mere blink of an eye, it smeared something, like flesh.

"Open!"

Arzen released his chain sickle up to the air and uttered the word, "Open."

He claps his two palms and touched it to each other, like praying. As a form of a ritual or channelling or incantation, Arzen translocated to where the front end of the weapon is currently at point like teleportation.

Upon mid air, he throws the other end of the chain towards the direction of the devil. The chains rattle up as it hitted the midpoint area between their distance and the devil's range.

"Shit! It didn't reached it. Change of plans, Ognar!", shouted by Arzen when he realized the situation.

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (Matthew 5:8)", Ognar phrased a verse like an incantation.

Suddenly, he widens his halberd and he immediately charged into the devil.

Smoldering blaze of azure hue and the white essence dashed off his trail as that he flew by in an insane speed.

Without any flashy words to say or mutter, Ognar lets his halberd to came contact with the unforseen barrier.

He struck it with the tip of his weapon and re-channelized the essence to strengthen his blow.

Electric charge starts to appear in the heat of the collision as that intense vibration and pressure could be felt in the surrounding air.

Neither both sides would held down their resistance and the collision will not settle in just one blow.

Ognar adjusted his grip on the base of the weapon and putted up more power in his thrust.

Yet, despite the attack, the devil is indifferent. It didn't show any retaliation from the strike even though its barrier cannot held on any longer.

Cracks have appeared in the supposed invisible barrier and it would not take longer to be completely devastated. So as that has happened.

Ognar broke through the barrier with his weapon in the span of 10 seconds.

A small implosion have been leaved upon the penetration that caused a few smokes to float around the circulating air.

Yet Ognar continued his charge and landed a hit to the devil, almost. As the smog settled, "That should have gotten it," Ognar says.

Yet, "Huh? I'm sure I've hitted it actually. Did I missed? And where the hell is that devil?"

The devil disappeared in his hindsight. But in all his accord, he spotted the devil in the position they avoided to be at.

"Huh! Oh the fuck! Shit, this is bad! This is bad! It's right beside me. What should I do!?"

Florian, who is settling in the most unlikely place for the devil to come to, found himself beside the devil and his agonizing sister.

"It's right beside me, right? *panting."

He's stunned. His breath starts to deplete and he's experiencing what you call tunnel vision.

"Get out of there, kid!!", Ognar shouted when he realized that Florian is in death's hang.

Yet, to count this one of his near death experience, it is actually his fourth time facing the devil, eye-to-eye.

The fear of death, necrophobia, have sated in his heart. That close contact didn't feel like his first encounter with the devil.

Probably out of instincts or perhaps from his deliberate action, he attempted the unthinkable.

"Die, devil!"

Without any second thought, he swinged the stray blade he found lying in the ground unto the devil's body.

In the midst of his intention, it appeared that his left eye started to bleed for no considerable reason.

Probably it's from the stress he have accumulated but still he then on carried his will.

He uttered a phrase, "Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience (James 1:3)."

He recited what he have heard from before in faith that something will happen.

In burrowing the God's words, the moment ceased to move.

The devil stopped moving an inch in the span of a second. As did the surroundings. It's like time freezed in Florian's will.

"Arghhh!!!" With all the strength he could muster on his left hand, he tried to smite the devil.

But it is still unclear whether Florian have actually landed a hit to the devil.

With the weapon he have collected from the stray blood that have been left by the previous devil, it is sure that it will land a fatal hit on anything it hits.

"I'm very well pleased, human." A voice sounded in the stray air.

After what Florian have done, something starts to change in the atmosphere of the surrounding.

The imagery of Florian's house slowly burns, like the fleeting domain is disappearing.

"Impossible," Arzen mumbled. "The Pandemonium have disappeared. We're back to the outside world."

The shrieking voice and the gnashing of teeth ceased. The eerie and unsettling feeling fades and what's left is nothing but the stench of dried blood.

Yet after the Pandemonium disappeared, the destruction that have been caused by the battles that happened inside the house are manifested in the real world.

The blank hole from Ognar's smite leaved the roof opened. Red dusk shone a light inside the ruined house and it still gives the chills from hell.

Despite several events have occured inside the Pandemonium, the time in the outside world didn't progressed that far at all.

As if like the hell were manifesting a different time frame from the earth. It's still afternoon, just still the time when Florian, William, and Sean entered the house.

"It's still not over yet." Victor opened his mouth, which is a bit rare, and said that the disappearance of the Pandemonium wouldn't mean that it is over.

Florian, who couldn't believe what he have done, falls to the ground with his back first.

"*panting, Is... Did I killed... The devil?", he asked.

Blood flows out from his left eye. His right arm started to bleed again and his left arm were scarred.

As he lay down to see what have happened, he saw something that tells him that it's not over yet and for sure this will be his last.

Ognar and Arzen could hear it. Even Victor retaliated and raised his guard.

A loud buzzing sound could be heard. The gushing of winds are dancing in the flapping of a wing-like structure. Flies started to fly by to a certain place above the house.

And something immense is secreting a pungent smell that smells like a rotten meat.
