Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: Silence

**Clue 1:** After school, Yuki-chan left her usual activities and went to the slum area of Chiba with a club member named Hikigaya Hachiman.

**Clue 2:** That day, an old office building for a construction project collapsed mysteriously, and the cause of the collapse remains unknown. Hikigaya Hachiman's bicycle was found at the scene. This suggests that Yuki-chan and Hikigaya Hachiman were likely at the scene when the building collapsed, but there is no direct evidence.

**Clue 3:** Yuki-chan seems to occasionally talk to herself as if she is having a conversation with someone.

**Clue 4:** After witnessing the bloody crime scene, Yuki-chan's actual behavior did not match what her parents said about her being scared and in a daze.

The four doubts mentioned above are the things Yukinoshita Haruno has noticed recently about her sister, Yukinoshita Yukino, that seem off. However, Haruno can't figure out what these doubts will ultimately lead to.

She isn't a famous detective, and besides the possibility that these doubts could indicate her sister has a serious mental illness, they don't really prove anything else.

Besides that, the only other thought is to consider something like urban legends or supernatural events.

But that obviously isn't possible.

While aimlessly thinking in her mind, Yukinoshita Haruno, holding a tea tray, didn't notice the steps beneath her feet. She accidentally twisted her ankle, and the cups on the tray immediately slid to one side. She could already imagine her mother scolding her for being careless.

Just as the white porcelain cup was about to shatter on the wooden floor, a small, fair hand suddenly reached out and caught it in mid-air. Besides spilling a bit of tea, the expensive white cup was unharmed.

"Be careful, sister. Did you twist your ankle?"

Yukinoshita Yukino took the tea tray from Haruno's hands and asked with a worried look.

Yukinoshita Haruno blinked her crystal-clear eyes in surprise, her expression slightly dazed and silly as she looked at her sister.

Yuki-chan's reaction was so fast?

Clue 5: …It seems my sister has turned into Spider-Man.

It seems that supernatural events might not be impossible after all.

"Sister?"

It was the first time Yukinoshita Yukino saw such a silly expression on her sister's face, making her both amused and a bit curious.

"Oh, it's nothing. I just spaced out a bit."

Yukinoshita Haruno came back to her senses and put on a smile, saying to Yukino, "By the way, your reaction is really quick! You caught that just in time. I was almost going to get scolded by Mom."

As soon as Haruno said this, Yukinoshita Yukino realized she had messed up again. Annoyed at her own clumsiness, she returned the tea tray and quickly left.

What's up with this sister? Why does she watch me all the time, testing me for no reason? Is she too bored!?

She should just let Mom scold her for a bit!

As she watched Yukinoshita Yukino's back disappear, the smile on Yukinoshita Haruno's face faded, replaced by a serious expression and a deep sense of confusion in her eyes.

So many questions surrounded her sister, and it always seemed like she was involved in dangerous situations, making Haruno worry while also igniting a darker desire within her to peel back the layers and fully understand her sister, who had changed so much recently.

She knew this feeling was wrong, but if she couldn't uncover the truth, this emotion would likely grow and fester in the dark corners of her mind, twisting her already complicated personality even further.

So…

Sorry, Yukino, just this once, forgive me.

…

After spending the weekend at the Yukinoshita family home and having dinner with her family on Sunday night, Yukinoshita Yukino returned to her upscale apartment where she lived alone.

Even though her mother wanted her to stay home for a few more days, Yukino refused, saying she didn't want to fall behind in her studies. Besides, she looked perfectly fine, so in the end, her mother agreed to let her go back.

There was also good news—Yukinoshita Haruno finally wrapped up her project in Chiba. It was just a training exercise for her, and she didn't need to follow up on the remaining work, so she could head back to Tokyo to continue her university courses.

Tonight was Yukinoshita Haruno's last night staying in this apartment.

She would soon be able to enjoy her lovely solitary life again, without worrying about her sister's probing questions, and she could freely talk to Parasitic Bug-kun at home.

Things were looking up, everything was getting better. Yukinoshita Yukino's mood lifted, and even while preparing breakfast for herself and Haruno, her lips curled up in a smile.

"Should I have the driver take you to school?"

Yukinoshita Haruno asked.

"No, I can walk."

Yukinoshita Yukino shook her head in refusal.

"Alright then."

Yukinoshita Haruno said nonchalantly, "Sister is leaving now, but I'll come to play with Yuki-chan often, so don't miss me too much, okay?"

Before leaving, Yukinoshita Haruno gently hugged her sister, who didn't refuse and hugged her back lightly.

"If possible, I hope you come less often."

Yukinoshita Yukino said bluntly.

"How cold!"

Yukinoshita Haruno blinked and suddenly took a step forward, lightly touching her sister's lips with her finger.

"Don't run off to dangerous places, okay? I'd worry."

After leaving that meaningful remark, she turned and got into the family's black luxury car. The window rolled down to reveal a bright smile and a waving hand.

The car slowly drove away, disappearing at the end of the street, while Yukinoshita Yukino watched Haruno leave and only pulled her gaze back after a few seconds.

What did her sister's last comment mean?

Did she notice something?

"Parasitic Bug-kun, what do you think?"

Yukinoshita Yukino asked, but got no response. "Parasitic Bug-kun?"

[Ah? What's up?]

Hayashizaki, who had been browsing the system's Taobao, snapped back to reality.

"What do you think—was my sister's last comment just a simple reminder out of concern, or does it mean something more?"

Yukinoshita Yukino patiently repeated her question.

[I wouldn't know. I didn't hear it.]

"#!"

One day's good mood was easily destroyed, and a woman's mood can change as fast as the weather in London.

Forget it; since my sister has already gone back to Tokyo, I can relax for a bit.

Yukinoshita Yukino decided not to pay attention to the parasite living inside her body without paying rent and set off for school with her backpack.

...

"Zizi…"

"Parasite-kun, what do you think?"

"Parasite-kun?"

"Do you think the last thing my sister said to me was just a simple warning out of concern, or did it mean something else?"

The car drove smoothly along, with Yukinoshita Haruno leaning against the window, one hand propping up her chin while her eyes were lost in thought, gazing at the streets passing by outside.
