Chapter 72: Improving Relations
Under the sparse moonlight, scattered beams shone through the cave entrance, illuminating the stone bed. Xiao Tian's head was buried in Yun Yun's ample chest as he breathed evenly.
"Mmm~" Yun Yun murmured softly and suddenly woke up. The first thing she noticed was Xiao Tian and the state of her own body. Embarrassing scenes from the previous night flooded her mind.
"Bang!" In an instant, Yun Yun pushed Xiao Tian off the bed. He fell to the ground like a dead pig, still smiling in his sleep, unaffected by the fall.
Yun Yun glared at Xiao Tian, her eyes welling with tears. She couldn't believe that her purity, preserved for so many years, had been lost like this.
She dressed quickly and summoned her sword with a clang. Her face was icy, and her eyes were filled with killing intent as she looked at Xiao Tian. She wanted to cut down the scoundrel who had taken advantage of her. However, she realized that she was partly at fault for the mix-up with the seasonings. Killing him seemed too extreme given the circumstances.
Feeling conflicted, Yun Yun stood by the stone bed, biting her lip, her face alternating between light and shadow.
"Ah!" Finally, she sighed and put her sword away.
"Shasha~ Shasha~" Yun Yun turned and walked out of the cave to wash in the pond. After she left, Xiao Tian turned over with a smirk on his face.
...
The next morning, Xiao Tian woke up to see Yun Yun meditating on the stone bed.
"Yawn~" He stretched and stood up, greeting her, "Good morning!"
Hearing Xiao Tian's voice, Yun Yun opened her eyes but immediately shut them again. "Can you put on some clothes first?" she said coldly.
"Ah?" Xiao Tian scratched his head awkwardly and quickly dressed.
"Yun'er, about yesterday..." Xiao Tian began gently after getting dressed and sitting on the bed.
"Nothing happened yesterday, got it? And don't call me Yun'er. We're not that close," Yun Yun interrupted, not letting him finish.
"Yun'er, since it happened, we need to face it," Xiao Tian said softly. "I'll go to Yun Lan Sect and propose. I'll take responsibility for this."
Yun Yun opened her eyes, looking serious. "If you don't want me to kill myself, stay away from me."
"Uh..." Xiao Tian was taken aback by her harsh words.
"I'm going out," Xiao Tian said and left the cave.
Flying swiftly, he arrived at the Amethyst Winged Lion King's lair.
"Roar!" The lion king charged out but halted upon seeing Xiao Tian.
"What do you want?" it growled.
"I need the Amethyst Spirit Crystal," Xiao Tian said with a smile.
"You're with that Dou Huang, aren't you?" the lion king asked, frowning.
"We weren't acquainted before, but now she's mine," Xiao Tian replied, smiling. "Thanks to you, by the way."
"Pfft!" The lion king almost spat out blood. It felt like it had unknowingly helped this annoying human.
"Hand over the Amethyst Spirit Crystal," Xiao Tian demanded.
"I don't have it," the lion king replied.
"Hmm?" Xiao Tian narrowed his eyes. "Are you looking for trouble?"
He reached out, and the lion king was lifted off the ground, feeling the pressure of the surrounding space.
"Wait, wait! I remember now. I have one," the lion king quickly relented.
"Good," Xiao Tian released it. The lion king ran back into its lair and returned with a fist-sized, irregularly shaped purple crystal, glowing beautifully.
"This is the Amethyst Spirit Crystal," the lion king said.
"Thanks," Xiao Tian pocketed the crystal. "Now, I need your help with one more thing."
"What is it?" the lion king asked.
"Just help me stage a little show," Xiao Tian whispered his plan to the lion king.
...
A while later, Xiao Tian ran out of the lair, his clothes torn and tattered.
"Roar! Catch that thief!" the lion king bellowed.
"Roar! Growl!" Soon, the entire Magic Beast Mountain Range was in chaos, filled with the roars of various magical beasts.
In the cave, Yun Yun heard the commotion outside and couldn't help but worry about Xiao Tian. She clenched her fists, cursing inwardly, "That idiot, why isn't he back yet?"
After waiting for a while, she began pacing restlessly. Finally, she decided to go out, summoning her sword.
"Whoosh!" At that moment, a figure staggered into the cave. Seeing Xiao Tian, Yun Yun moved to approach him but stopped herself, standing still instead, though her eyes never left him.
Xiao Tian, looking disheveled with multiple wounds, collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. Holding the Amethyst Spirit Crystal, he said with a gentle smile, "Yun'er, I got the crystal for you."
He then coughed up blood and fell unconscious.
"Xiao Tian, what's wrong?" Yun Yun exclaimed, rushing to him. Xiao Tian felt himself fall into a soft embrace, bringing to mind his physics teacher's lessons about the effects of force.
"Wake up, Xiao Tian!" Yun Yun shook him, but he didn't respond. Seeing his wounds, she was deeply moved. She couldn't believe he had risked so much to get the crystal for her.
Her hand gently caressed his face, her eyes misty. "You fool, you didn't have to go to such lengths."
