Crazy is an understatement of what Taylor is.
I stared at the unfamiliar man at the back seat.
He wore a blue office shirt and black trousers His brunette hair was so disheveled that it covered half of his face.
His hands were tied to the back, and so were his legs.
His eyes and mouth were also sealed, he couldn't see or say a thing.
"Who is this?" I asked Taylor who was still in his moment of pride.
"If you pay any attention at all, then you would know that this guy has been following you all this while,"
"what the…" I looked between Taylor and the guy who was now shaking.
"This man you see here, is working for Daven. He has been spying on you and giving him all the information." Taylor stated.
I looked at the man with a new found rage. That means he is the reason my plan got sabotaged.
Daven Willingham is smarter than I had expected.
"So now what, Taylor?" I asked, trying to mask my anger for this man.
"Now, I have him. Your plans won't be disrupted anymore." He said.
This whole thing made me wonder how on earth Taylor knows so much.
"You need me Adriana, and I need you. Let's help each other."
"Now that you've brought him here, he'll tell Daven everything."
"Don't worry about him. His lips are sealed from today. He would only tell them what I say."
I didn't know what to say from here. How do I know whether to trust him or not?
But it doesn't matter, whether I do. He already knows all my secrets and can use them against me anytime. Daven is already an enemy, I don't want another one.
"Fine, Taylor, Let's team up."
His mouth curled into a snide, wicked smile.
"Happy to have you onboard," He took my hands in his.
"Yeah yeah, now leave! Before someone spots us." I Bawled.
"Bye partner," Taylor waved before closing the door and zooming off.
A deep breath escaped my lips, I felt a bit at ease.
Whether he's a friend or a foe, at least I have him close by.
I texted Kent the details of our new partnership as I walked back to the house.
No matter how much I wanted to please Eric, it was too late to attend the auction.
I wasn't in the mood to go back to my room So I decided to sit in the living room downstairs.
My body relaxed, sinking into the sofa, my eyelids grew heavy and I began to doze.
I was startled into consciousness by the sound of someone approaching.
Just as expected, it was Daven, giving me a reason to regret my choice of staying downstairs.
I didn't acknowledge his presence, instead, I picked my phone and acted busy.
Daven didn't say a word either, he sat down next to me, his eyes glued to the painting on the wall.
The silence was so loud, If he had anything to say, I wish he'd just say it.
I wanted to ask him about the drawing in his journal, but I knew it was a bad idea so I just shut up.
"Adriana," Eric's voice echoed from the entrance of the hall.
"You're back already?" I said, checking the time. I thought the auction would last a little longer.
"You stayed back with Daven? His voice was laced with irritation, eyes narrowing in dissatisfaction.
"I was waiting for you."
"Eric," I paced towards him.
"I couldn't make it…" I tried to explain but he wasn't looking at me.
"Just go upstairs." He said, and I obeyed without arguing.
As I left the lobby, I could hear Eric yell at the top of his voice.
"Why don't you go get your own wife and fucking leave mine alone Daven!"
I shook my head as I went straight to bed. The last thing I want is all this drama between Eric and Daven.
To avoid this, I decided to do all I can to avoid being in the same room with Daven.
And I did that for the next two days.
I focused more on my mission, hoping to get everything over with.
The only time I come across Daven is at dinner, and just like that, dinner became my favorite time of the day.
I walked downstairs to join them at the table after work and was surprised to see an addition of one more person and for a change, it wasn't Taylor as usual.
It was a lady, seated majestically in a purple dress, with very light makeup on. Her brown skin was shining as bright as her dark ebony hair.
It took some time before I recognized her as the lady who designed my wedding dress.
"Adriana, Hello." She waved with a smile.
"Hey, Isabelle," I said, hoping I got the name right.
"Oh, Isabelle dear, why haven't you visited all this while." Grandma said.
I took a seat beside Eric, glad I got the name right.
"I really wanted to come, but I was not in town." Isabella said.
"Plus, Daven did not tell her he had returned. Can you imagine, Grandma?" Eric said.
I looked at Eric, then at Daven and Isabelle.
"Daven why? She has been waiting all this while," Grandma scolded.
"Yes, Daven. I was surprised when Eric called and told me last night." Isabelle beamed.
"I hope you are good now babe,"
She said tugging Daven's arm.
At the mention of the word babe, my pulse skipped a beat. I felt a tug in my heart.
"Yeah, I'm good." He replied.
I stared at Isabelle with a scowl on my face.
Who is this bitch?
But most importantly, why did I care?
"Baby, you haven't touched your food," Eric said, half way into dinner.
That was when I realized I hadn't touched my food much.
"Ohh," I murmured.
"Anthony, Francis, the wedding preparations for Isabelle and Daven's wedding should start as soon as possible." Grandma said.
My jaw dropped. What is she talking about?
"Ohh, Yes! Yes!" Selena exclaimed.
"I don't think we should rush them yet." Bianca said.
"Mom is right. We aren't ready yet." Daven said.
I sighed in relief.
"What do you mean, of course we are ready," Isabelle said, touching his collar.
"We should have the wedding as soon as possible." Anthony said.
"I said I'm not ready yet," Daven gritted.
"Why not? It'll be cool to have all the sons in the house married." Eric said. He seemed to be the happiest about what was going on.
I, on the other hand, felt like I was going to be sick.
"Tsk," Daven stood up, and left the table. Isabelle followed him shamelessly.
While every other person just watched them.
"Adriana, Amber, we should start picking the colors to use!" Selena squealed. "I want this wedding to be the talk of the town!"
"The man said he isn't ready! Why don't you all respect his choice." I blurted and regretted immediately.
Selena stared at me silently.
"No one asked for your opinion!" Grandma scowled.
"Well I'm sure Daven would appreciate." I fired back.
"Adriana, Daven would definitely be okay with the wedding." Selena said.
I let out a deep sigh, these people are so annoying.
"I think we should listen to Adriana. I don't want things being forced on my son." Bianca said calmly.
"Forced? He has been with this lady for so long! Why would you call it force?" Eric yelled.
"That's enough!" Anthony hit the table, shutting everyone up.
"No more opinions on Daven and his marriage. I've had enough!"
I didn't feel like sitting any more.
I stood up and Left the hall.
On my way back to my room, I saw Daven holding Isabelle in his arms, caressing her hair.
