Nora stood in front of the mirror, admiring her reflection. From a simple girl in plain clothes, she had transformed into a completely different image. The red dress clung to her figure, accentuating every alluring curve, and the sparkling high heels gave her a commanding elegance. Her makeup was flawless—the red lipstick and sharp eyeliner emphasized her sensual beauty. Everything about her now spoke of a new, confident, and captivating Nora.
The image in the mirror made her smile with satisfaction. She touched up her lipstick, and the girl staring back at her in the mirror flashed a confident grin.
Nora hailed a taxi and headed straight to the Anderson Corporation's headquarters, where Elias's father worked.
The moment she stepped through the entrance, she immediately captured the attention of several employees. Many gaped in awe at her beauty and bold presence.
"Hello, how may I assist you, miss?" The receptionist's eyes took in her striking appearance. Having worked there for many years, the receptionist could tell Nora wasn't an ordinary visitor. She was either a significant client or someone bringing trouble.
"Mind your own business. I'll handle my own affairs," Nora said icily, her gaze sharp.
With that, she stood in the middle of the company's lobby and shouted, "Etham Taylor! Come out here right now!"
"If you and that little mistress of yours keep hiding, don't blame me for being impolite!" Nora's voice rang loud and clear.
As she spoke, she flung out a stack of incriminating photos, scattering them across the floor for everyone to see. The images depicted a couple in compromising positions.
People in the lobby began to realize what was happening. The stunning woman in front of them was here for a confrontation!
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at the woman causing a scene. Whispers filled the air.
A security guard approached Nora, trying to calm her down. "Miss, please calm down. This is a workplace; you can't cause a disturbance like this."
But Nora ignored his attempts to reason with her. She continued shouting.
"You bastard, Etham! I sacrificed so much for you, and this is how you repay me?"
"Miss, please, let's talk about this calmly. This is not the place for—"
"Shut up, all of you!" she snapped before the employee could finish. "What do you know? If you were in my shoes, would you stay calm?"
Pausing for a moment, she continued, "I quit school to stay home and take care of him, cooking and cleaning every day. For so many years, I haven't bought a single dress. And what do I get in return? That bastard cheats on me and gives me a pair of horns! If you were me, could you bear it?"
To be fair, Nora was putting on a perfect performance.
The employees exchanged glances, not sure how to respond. The damning evidence was still scattered all over the floor—at this point, convincing her to leave quietly seemed impossible.
"If that scumbag Etham and his slut don't kneel and apologize to me, I won't leave!"
The whispers around her grew louder. Some said she was being unreasonable, while others pitied her. Everyone was riveted, eager to see what would happen next.
"What's going on here?" A deep, steady voice broke through the commotion.
A man in a tailored suit stepped forward.
The person she wanted to meet had finally arrived: Dominic Anderson, the head of the Anderson Corporation.
Dominic squinted slightly as he recognized Nora's face—it was the girl he had bumped into earlier that morning. But his demeanor quickly shifted back to professionalism.
"Hello, I'm Dominic Anderson, CEO of Anderson Corporation. How may I assist you?"
Having achieved her goal, Nora dialed down the theatrics. Her voice dripped with sarcasm as she replied, "Are you the CEO? Since when did your company start hiring such unethical employees?"
"If there's an issue, please tell me. If any of our employees have behaved inappropriately, I'll take full responsibility."
"Etham and Charlotte from your sales department are having an affair. I'm the girlfriend and fiancée of that jerk!" Nora quickly fabricated two names and an entire story.
"Is that so?" Dominic frowned slightly.
"Why would I lie?" she demanded, pointing to the photos strewn across the floor. The pictures showed a couple sneaking into a hotel. However, due to the angle, the faces of the two were not clearly visible.
"This is Etham! He's my boyfriend—anyone who knows him would recognize him!" Nora insisted firmly.
Dominic nodded thoughtfully and took out his phone to call the HR department. Within two minutes, HR responded to his inquiry.
"Sir, I've reviewed our employee list. We have no one named Etham or Charlotte."
"I understand." Dominic hung up and turned to Nora. "Miss, I'm sorry, but there's no one by those names in our company."
Although she had expected this result, Nora still feigned shock. "What? How can that be?"
"Our HR department conducted a thorough check. There's no one here who matches the names you mentioned."
"Is that so?" Nora eyed him with a look of doubt.
"I have no reason to deceive you," Dominic replied confidently.
"Miss, the CEO has no reason to lie. Perhaps you've mistaken the company," Dominic's assistant chimed in gently.
Nora shrugged nonchalantly, showing no sign of embarrassment. "Oh, I might have made a mistake. Sorry about that!"
She sighed softly and continued, "Honestly, Etham never told me where he works. He always said I was too young, that I wouldn't understand business matters. But one time, I saw some documents on his desk mentioning a project from your company, so I assumed he worked here."
"Miss, losing a beautiful woman like you would be his loss. As for those documents, he could be working for one of our partner companies," Dominic's assistant, Felix, explained.
"Oh, will you help me find out if any of your partners have someone named Etham?" Felix offered.
"Really? Thank you!"
Nora knew Felix's words were just to placate her. They wouldn't waste time investigating who her boyfriend was. All they wanted was to get rid of her peacefully.
"You're very kind. I misunderstood your company. I apologize."
With that, Nora picked up her handbag and turned to leave.
"Would you like to join me in my office for some tea?"
It was Dominic.
