Isabel POV

The room crackled with tension, every second stretching into an eternity as Diego stood in the doorway, his rifle raised. His eyes, cold and calculating, locked onto Miguel.

"You don't have to do this," Miguel said, his voice steady despite the turmoil in his eyes.

Diego's expression didn't falter. "Yes, I do. You're on the wrong side of this, Miguel."

"The wrong side?" Miguel stepped forward, his rifle lowered slightly, but his movements deliberate. "You're working for a man who's willing to destroy everything just to control it."

Diego's jaw tightened. "You think I don't know what's at stake? Gideon's system can prevent wars, stop crimes before they happen—save millions of lives. That's worth more than your petty rebellion."

"Diego, please," I said, stepping beside Miguel. "The system isn't what you think it is. It's not saving lives. It's manipulating them."

He glanced at me; his gaze hard. "Stay out of this."
