Chapter 81 - Chapter 80

Isabel POV

The footage of Victor on the phone looped in my head as I huddled in the corner of the maintenance tunnel, my laptop open on my knees. Miguel crouched nearby, his weapon ready, scanning the darkness for any sign of movement. The air was thick with tension, every sound amplified by the narrow walls.

"You saw him," Marissa's voice crackled over the comms, sharp and accusing.

"Yes," I admitted, my voice trembling despite my attempt to steady it. "Victor made the call. But we don't know what it was about."

Miguel glanced at me; his expression unreadable. "We don't need to guess. If he's working with Gideon—"

"Stop," I said, cutting him off. "We don't know the whole story."

He shook his head. "This isn't about stories. It's about survival. If Victor's compromised, we can't trust him."

I opened my mouth to argue, but the distant echo of gunfire silenced me.
