Isabel POV
The clock was merciless, each second ticking away like a hammer striking steel. I sat bent over Victor's computer, the glowing screen illuminating the grim list of undercover agents. The names blurred together, but I forced myself to focus. Somewhere in these files were people I had helped—families I had relocated, lives I had sworn to protect.
Victor's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "We don't have time for this," he barked, pacing behind me. "The plan is set. Either you're with me, or you're not."
I ignored him, scanning the columns of data for anything that stood out. A pattern. A clue. Something to buy these people more than the death sentence Victor was preparing to deliver.
Miguel POV
Marissa and I moved through the lower levels of the safe house; our weapons drawn. The place was too quiet now, the air thick with anticipation.
