"Ugh!"
Valac's eyes blinked open, vision hazy, as a throbbing ache settled firmly at the base of his skull. He groaned, lifting a hand to his head, only to feel the familiar chill of magic restraints binding his wrists.
"Ugh... so this is... cozy?" he mumbled, grimacing as he shifted on the rough, uneven stone floor. "They sure have... unique hospitality around here."
"Kyu...?"
A familiar chirp caught his attention, and his gaze darted to the dimly lit corner of the cell where Lav lay curled up, equally restrained. The little dragon's red eyes glistened with worry, watching Valac intently.
So, elves can see Lav. Fairies can. But, humans can't? So weird.
"Kyu!"
"Yeah, buddy, I'm fine. Just... can't move my head without feeling like it's been stomped on by a horse." He took a deep breath, testing his limits. Pain flared along his spine, and he winced, deciding that lying down wasn't so bad after all.
