Chapter 2 - A Legend

"All right, class! Who can tell me" The Female Teacher gazes to the rest of the class and continues.

"What/who colonized the Philippines the longest?"

Most students raise their hands and try to get the attention of the teacher.

"ME!"

"Ma'am!"

"ME!ME!ME!ME!"

The Female Teacher looks for the right student to pick, and she notices one who is sleeping.

"Luna! Why are you sleeping in my class? Luna!"

A black-haired 18-year-old suddenly woke up. His eyes are red from his power sleeping.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA**Laugh~!*

His classmates laugh at him, causing the teacher's frown to deepen.

"Mr. Luna! If you are only going to sleep in my class I suggest you get out and don't attend my class!" The female teacher shouted, stopping the class from their laughter.

"Sorry, Ma'am, I had a job last night, and I wasn't able to sleep that much," Mr. Luna answers tiredly.

" *Sighs~* Oh well, Mr. Luna, since you are awake now, Who colonized the Philippines the longest? " The female teacher asked.

"Ummm… The uhhhh- Spaniard Ma'am" Mr. Luna answers hesitantly.

"Good to know you are listening, please sit down" The Female teacher then continued to teach history.

However, Mr. Luna finds it hard to open his eyes anymore, his vision darkening, and his breathing labored…

Blank. Mr. Luna blacked out from exhaustion sleeping on a history book…

Mr. Luna, or Steven M. Luna, is a working student, studying during the day and working at a fast food at night till morning. His parents died from a typhoon, leaving him on his own, he was too shy and afraid to live with his relatives and decided to live on his own. Cooking on his own, paying the electric and water bills, and trying to stay alive until he could graduate from college…

'Why? It's… unfair; everything is too hard; if God really gave me hardships, I can overcome them; why am I in this darkness now? Is this the afterlife? Heaven? I guess not; I was really not loving in my parents' view. I sometimes ignored their chores and their advice. I am not even a good citizen; seeing a beggar, I don't even hesitate to say, 'I don't have money' even though I have some leftovers… I- am nothing…'

'Hold on, how can I think?'

An eye opened, sunlight stinging it, unfamiliar with everything yet so familiar.

"What the hell?" A cute kid's voice is heard.

"What the hell!? *Cough* Ahhhhhh~" The kid tried to lower his voice, but that seemed impossible.

"OMG! I reincarnated! Wait hold on" Kid closed his eyes and pinched his cheeks hard.

"Ouch! Ok, that hurt, where even am I?" He looked around, it looked old but also new.

'Am I on a field trip in a province? Why am I in a 'kubo'?'

*Footsteps~*

Hearing footsteps, he went back to sleep, pretending to be out.

[In Old Tagalog]

"Lakas? Are you awake? Get up and help your father harvest" A woman's voice is heard.

'Lakas? Is… that my name now? Wow, those accents are so different, I can't even understand most of what she said. Time travel, huh? Wait, how do I even act? I should peak a little'

Peeking, he saw a woman. Her skin was not very clean because of dirt, but he could confirm she was Filipino, and he was glad she was covered, carrying vegetables.

As he fully opened his eyes to assess the woman, a stinging pain emerged in his brain.

" *Hiss~* Aghhh~" Clutching his head, memories emerged, and slowly, the pain subsided.

"Are you ok son? " The woman approached him a smell of sweat and dirt, but he didn't seem to mind it and he responded to his… Mother.

"I am fine, Mother (Nanay); my head suddenly hurt." Still clutching his head, he explained to his mother.

"Ok, rest for now." His mother said while patting his head.

"Opo Mother" His mother looks at him confusedly

"Ah, Oo(yes), Mother." His mother smiles and leaves.

' That was close. I am glad I have these kids' memories, now what to do? ' He asked himself

' Apparently, we are in 'Humunu" I can't seem to remember if that is in the Philippines; I guess I will have to ask more from people here. The date seemed to be weird; I can't seem to remember, which means this kid doesn't know; after all, he is 7 years old. We base the days on the use of the moon, and it seems the Spaniards haven't arrived yet; I'll take note of that…'

After a while, his thinking became more serious.

'This is more serious than I thought; I would need to stop the Spaniards from going back; I also need to advance the technology here, and also stop all the empire that has eyes on the Philippines. How? How can I do that!? This is so hard, but knowing I can stop the atrocities, I'll have to do it.' His resolve deepened, forgetting his past life, forgetting the hardships, and replacing it with another. However, this new hardship brings a good purpose…
