Lucius felt a temptation to panic.

He could feel the emotion coiling around his still heart, suppressed, but slowly gnawing at him from within for attention—for him to give in to the worry that would drown him in unnecessary anxiety.

However, he didn't respond to the call.

Instead, Lucius calmly assessed the situation he had been presented with, and he did it very swiftly.

"I only see two possible ways that this could have happened…"

One would be for Philip and James to find a way to cut ties to him and rebel. This would be a rather damning scenario, but Lucius considered the possibility of it happening to be rather slim. 

For one, the nature of their assignment didn't give room for something like that, and he hadn't sensed a single subversive intention from them ever since they became Undead. It would be illogical to conclude that they would do something antithetical to their current dispositions.
