Chapter 1 - from Vermileya

Chapter 1-

from Vermileya

In the middle of ancient Europe, between rolling hills and dense forests, there is a small village named Eldenwood. This village that has cobblestone streets and thatched roof cottages, is the home to a young blacksmith named Adien. Adien was known for his amazing skill at crafting weapons and tools , the talent ran in his family and had been passed down through generations. His shop was the backbone of the village allowing it to have enough defensive capabilities. One crisp autumn morning as Adien lit the fire in his forge a group of traveling knights arrived in Eldenwood. In shining armor and bearing the crest of the king, ruler of the land. The leader of the group, Sir Azien, approached Adien with urgency. "We need the best blacksmith in the land" he declared. The nation is at war with the northerners and we need weapons. Adien got right to work, day in and day out he worked. The swords he made were perfect. One day while working he made a sword so perfect that he was not willing to let it go. It was effectively flawless and absolutely beautiful. So he hid the sword from the knights. Eventually he grew tired of the knights as they were taking their housing and food without asking. So Adien kindly asked Sir Azien to leave. Aizen did not agree with Adien and forced him to work harder or he would label him with treason. One day after working so hard he almost passed out he got sick of the rules, so he challenged Azien to a duel. Adien used the perfect sword he made to fight Azien. At first Azien was shocked at the sword quality but still managed to pull himself together to fight. The fight was ferocious, neither side taking an advantage. Blood spilled, Fingers were cut and wounds were made. All of a sudden Azien got sick of the prolonged  battle and ordered one of the soldiers to help him. The soldier intervened and Adien was stabbed in the back. They thought that he was dead and left him to rot but he was still alive. After months and months of recovery Adien finally managed to be healthy again. So he went back to the town and challenged Aizen again but before he could pick up his sword *swish, Adien head was served clean. This story was told to me by the oracle of Delphi. I was visiting her on my way to Eldenwood. She told me that it was not a good idea to go as those events were recent but I still went. As I got there Azien was still there and everyone was traumatized for what he did. I got to experience the pain the villagers went through from the knights. Everyone in the village was sick of them. The villagers faced malnutrition and abuse because of the knights' tyranny. I spent months in the village and got to know some of the knights and villagers on a personal level. What I didn't expect when I came to the village is the way the Oracle of Delphi spoke about this place and how accurate she was. It was as if a vale of fog hung over the heads of the villagers. Toward the end of my visit to Eldenwood I climbed one of the rolling hills,  and looked out at the edge of the hill towards the town for the last time. The place was in despair when I got there and  it had not changed. I was eager to leave as there was an unpleasant emotion attached to this village. I still thought about the people I met in the village some people were  somewhat attached to me. I had come searching for answers to the questions I had in my own life and the traumatic things that have happened to me. Even after my visit to Eldenwood I didn't get all of them. I left this place though with some gratitude for helping me through everything and seeing through the eyes of others. After being alone for a few hours on the hill I turned and started the walk down the path towards the town carrying the experience that I gained from this village as well as the trama of the villagers. I planned on telling someone but never found a way so I decided to write to you about it. I hope this story becomes known to others and tell about the abuse of all the kings knights. I also plan on visiting the village again later in my life, I hope to see change and growth from it. I am also hoping to find and acquire the sword that Adien used to fight Azien. On my way back home I did go back to the Oracle of Delphi to ask about the prosperity of the village but it was for not as she said nothing had changed and nothing will change for years. She also advised me not to go around telling people of this story until further notice because of the king. I thanked her and left. I hope to write more about this story later on in my life after I go back to the village. I also hope that Azien will get a proper punishment for his actions. I will write again when I visit.

Sincerely, Vermileya Odysseus
