Wei sat frozen in the chair, his hands trembling as they gripped the edges of the table. The scene played over and over in his mind Ming's fear, her defiance, the humiliation Kai put her through and her ultimate death at his hands.
He gritted his teeth. "Kai..." The name felt like poison on his tongue. He had suspected Kai of hiding something, but to see him murder Ming with his own eyes it was a betrayal deeper than any shadow they had faced. He was a monster. And he played them all.
Mei's voice broke the silence. "Wei, are you okay?" She leaned closer, her expression etched with concern. "You are sweating" she said as she used the sleeves of her clothes to dab the sweat on his forehead.
Wei blinked, realizing he'd been staring blankly at the soul mirror. "I saw it," he said hoarsely trying to hold back the tears.
Mei frowned. "Saw what?"
