The morning light seeped through the curtains, casting a soft glow over Mei's room. Wei blinked his eyes open, adjusting to the calm, quiet of the early morning. His gaze fell on Mei, still asleep beside him, her face softened in slumber, with a few strands of hair resting gently over her cheek. Wei couldn't help but smile, feeling a warmth that had nothing to do with the sunlight.
Carefully, he brushed the stray strands from her face, leaning down to place a soft kiss on her forehead. As he pulled back, Mei shifted slightly,her lashes fluttering slightly as she mumbled in her sleep before settling back into stillness. Wei's heart ached in the best way possible as he gently slid out of bed, moving slowly so as not to disturb her.
