### Chapter 41: Into the Abyss
Wei, Jiro, and Ming sprinted through the thick underbrush surrounding the temple, their hearts pounding in sync with the urgency of their escape. The shadows of the ancient trees loomed above them, creating a labyrinth of darkness as they weaved through the branches, desperate to distance themselves from the chaos they had just left behind.
"Did you see where they went?" Jiro gasped, glancing over his shoulder to ensure they weren't being pursued.
"No, but we need to find a safe place to regroup and plan our next move," Ming replied, her voice steady despite the panic swirling around them. "If they find us now, we'll be at a severe disadvantage."
They continued to run, the cool night air filling their lungs, until they reached a secluded clearing. Wei slowed, motioning for the others to do the same. They huddled together, breathless and trembling with adrenaline.
