"It's me Kai." A voice said from outside Ming's door and Ming looked more panicked.
"Hold on" she said as she cleared her table.
After clearing she took a deep breath and walked towards the door and unlocked it.
"What are you doing here so late at night… are you not supposed to be at the pawnshop with the rest." She said as she let him in.
"I missed you so I wanted to see how you are doing." Kai said as he made his way into the shop and looked around.
" you didn't have to do that… tea?" She asked as she held a teapot towards him.
Wei could feel his heart pounding as he watched the scene unfold. Kai's smile seemed off—too forced, too calculated—and Ming's trembling hands betrayed her unease.
"Tea sounds good," Kai replied smoothly, but his eyes roamed the shop, sharp and calculating. It was as though he were searching for something.
