Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31: Hope arrives

The battle raged on, the night air thick with tension as the D-type Kaiju began to heal itself, its wounds closing at an alarming rate. Asher and Logan, already exhausted and nursing their own injuries, watched in disbelief as the monster regenerated, its body growing stronger and faster. The once-D-type Kaiju had now ascended to a C-type, its newfound power and speed overwhelming the two young warriors.

Asher grit his teeth, flames flickering weakly from his hands as he tried to stand his ground. Logan, breathing heavily, could barely dodge the Kaiju's attacks anymore. The monster lunged at them with relentless fury, forcing them to retreat, barely holding on as it pressed its advantage.

"Damn it, we can't keep this up!" Asher muttered, wiping the blood from his lip.

The Kaiju's vicious tail swept across the battlefield, smashing into the ground with enough force to send debris flying. Students who had been watching from the sidelines could only look on in horror, knowing they were powerless to intervene. Panic spread through the camp as it became clear that neither Asher nor Logan could defeat the beast in its current state.

Just when all hope seemed lost, a sudden energy surged through the area, catching everyone's attention. There was a strange shift in the air, as if the atmosphere itself bent under the presence of someone powerful. From the shadows, a figure teleported into the camp, materializing with a soft, effortless laugh that echoed through the clearing.

It was Captain Kael.

At the very sight of him, hope reignited in the hearts of the students. Asher and Logan, though bruised and tired, looked up, both astonished and relieved by Kael's arrival. His presence alone seemed to invigorate them, as if the very idea of him taking control of the battle meant victory was inevitable.

The Kaiju, sensing a new threat, hesitated for the first time, its glowing eyes narrowing as it surveyed the newcomer. Captain Kael, with a smirk on his face, let out another soft laugh—one that oozed confidence and power.

Without a word, Kael approached the battlefield, his casual, almost playful demeanor masking the overwhelming power he possessed. The Kaiju recoiled, instinctively jumping back, trying to gauge its new opponent.

But it was too late.

In the blink of an eye, Kael teleported directly in front of the monster, his smirk widening as he extended his hand. "Graviol," he murmured softly.

A pulse of raw gravitational energy erupted from his body, wrapping around the Kaiju like invisible chains. The beast struggled, its once terrifying strength now utterly useless against the crushing force of Kael's gravity magic. The ground beneath it cracked and splintered as the monster was dragged down, its body compressed under the immense pressure.

Kael's power was overwhelming, and the Kaiju could do nothing but writhe helplessly. The captain's eyes glinted with amusement as he slowly raised his hand, intensifying the spell.

"Is that all you've got?" he teased, his voice light and mocking. With a final gesture, Kael brought his hand down, and the Kaiju was slammed into the ground with such force that its body shattered under the weight of gravity. The once fearsome creature was destroyed in an instant, reduced to nothing but dust.

Silence followed as the students stared in awe, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten. Captain Kael, still smirking, turned his back on the fallen Kaiju as if it had never been a threat to begin with.

"Alright, kids," he said, dusting off his hands. "Let's get back to the exam."

With the battle over, Kael casually collected the remains of the Kaiju's core, pocketing it without a second thought. Asher, still catching his breath, exchanged a glance with Logan. Both were exhausted, but the awe in their eyes was clear. Captain Kael was truly on a different level.

The camp was safe once again, but the night had reminded everyone of the dangers lurking in the exam—and the kind of power that awaited those who sought to become Rangers.
