Chapter 78 - [78] Confident Quill

Siberia, Lake Baikal Military Base.

Inside one of the buildings, 10 Mutants stood watching the scene outside with confused and anxious expressions.

Moments ago, every human in the Soviet base had collapsed to the ground.

Now, the Mutants exchanged uneasy glances, unsure of what was happening.

Most of the group was gripped by panic and uncertainty.

Their eyes turned toward Quill, the Mutant who had spoken with confidence earlier.

Before joining Sebastian Shaw's camp, these Mutants had led harsh and miserable lives.

As Mutants, they were despised and hated by normal humans.

Despite their abilities, they were subjected to beatings, insults, and even calls for their deaths.

To survive, they were forced to hide and live in constant fear.

This life of persecution had turned them into skittish, frightened individuals.

That was why, when Quill displayed an aura of confidence, the others were deeply impressed.

They instinctively looked to him as the leader of their group.

Under the nervous gazes of the other Mutants, Quill frowned slightly.

He glanced at the panicked group, his eyes were filled with disdain.

These Mutants clearly possessed powerful abilities, yet they behaved as timidly as mice.

Quill felt ashamed to be associated with them.

If not for the fact that they were all part of Sebastian Shaw's camp, he wouldn't have bothered with them at all.

"There's only one explanation for what's happening—The enemy is attacking!

And there's only one Mutant organization brave enough to oppose Black King Shaw: The X-Men."

It took Quill only a moment to deduce that their attackers were Shaw's enemies, the X-Men.

"X-Men? What's that?"

A Mutant with the appearance of a pufferfish, named Roderick, asked in confusion.

"Puffer Man Roderick, don't you watch TV?"

Quill's eyes twitched in irritation as he looked around, noticing the same confusion reflected in the faces of the other Mutants.

In that moment, Quill regretted joining Sebastian Shaw's camp.

He felt certain that one day, this group of clueless Mutants would get him killed.

"X-Men is America's superhero team.

There are six of them:

Professor X, Magneto, Homelander, Beast, Havok, and Siryn.

You don't need to worry about Professor X.

With our mental protection, we've neutralized him.

He's already a useless man."

Quill quickly introduced the X-Men, giving the group a concise rundown of their foes.

Since joining Sebastian Shaw's camp, Quill had been closely following the activities of the X-Men.

With a sharp and analytical mind, Quill prided himself on his ability to anticipate the enemy's moves.

This skill was the true source of his confidence.

Using information gleaned from television, Quill had become familiar with the abilities of the X-Men.

He had also quickly analyzed the weaknesses of each member.

'Professor X is very powerful, but also extremely vulnerable,'

Quill thought to himself.

"Once you have telepathic protection,

Defeating Professor X becomes straightforward."

And, as luck would have it, Quill already possessed a telepathic shield.

In fact, he considered the mere existence of telepathic protection as the X-Men's first defeat.

"Magneto's ability lies in manipulating magnetic fields,"

Quill continued his analysis.

"But from what I've observed, his power is limited to controlling metals."

With that deduction, Quill concluded that avoiding metal altogether

Would render Magneto ineffective.

"That would be our second victory,"

Quill noted confidently.

As for Homelander...

Quill admitted he hadn't yet figured out a weakness.

For now, he decided to skip analyzing him.

"Beast, on the other hand, is more of a scientist than a fighter,"

Quill reasoned.

"In our camp, Mutant Armstrong with his super strength would be a perfect match to counter Beast."

'That would give us a third victory,'

Quill thought.

As for Havok, Quill noted, "We have Mutant Cecilia on our side, who can create energy shields.

That gives us a fourth victory."

"The appearance rate of the X-Men's Siryn isn't high, but his ability to emit sound waves from his mouth can be countered.

Spider-Man on our side can use his webs to block Siryn's mouth."

"With the remaining Mutants focused on Homelander, we can take him down together.

I'm confident we can defeat the X-Men without sustaining any casualties."

Quill concluded with a smug expression, declaring this strategy to be a recipe for complete victory.

After explaining the abilities of each X-Men member, Quill began arranging corresponding tactics.

He then proceeded to deploy the team.

"Sandy, locate the X-Men's position,"

Quill ordered.

A black woman with dreadlocks stepped forward.

This was Mutant Sandy from Kenya, a rare Level 4 perception Mutant.

Sandy had the extraordinary ability to perceive the positions of all Mutants

Within a few kilometers.

She could even discern their abilities and Mutant levels, and relay these images to others through her perception power.

"Found them,"

Sandy said, closing her eyes as her ability activated.

All Mutants within a few kilometers were mapped out in her mind.

She then transmitted the images to the minds of the others.

In the shared vision, the runway of the Lake Baikal military base came into focus.

A supersonic fighter was shown landing quickly,

With the X-Men disembarking one by one.

"Huh? Where's Homelander?"

Quill frowned.

Through Sandy's perception, he could not see Brian

Quill couldn't spot the Beast among the X-Men either.

Instead, he noticed a strange new member he didn't recognize.

Mutant Sandy closed her perception ability, wiping sweat from her forehead before offering a warning:

"Among the X-Men, there are 2 Level 4 Mutants and 3 Level 3 Mutants."

Hearing this, Quill's frown deepened.

He felt as though things were slipping out of his control.

"Nissen, fly up and scout the area,"

Quill ordered, turning to a white man in a suit, who was dressed more like a politician than a Mutant.

At Quill's command, Mutant Nissen quickly took to the skies.

Nissen's Mutant ability was Flight, and he could reach speeds of up to Mach 12.

Soaring high above the base,

Nissen scanned the area from his aerial vantage point.

"I see seven Mutants,"

Nissen reported after landing back on the ground,

Relaying his observations to Quill.

Quill's heart sank further, but he maintained his outward confidence as a Mutant leader.

"It doesn't matter—stick to my plan,"

He said firmly, snapping out orders to his team.

"Cecilia, be prepared to deploy your energy shields for protection."

"Armstrong, gather some rock sculptures for cover."

"Spider-Man, climb to the nearby building and be ready to neutralize the X-Men's Siren."

Then, turning to another Mutant, nicknamed Two-Armed Man, Quill hesitated before waving him off.

"Two-Armed Man... just stay here. No need to go out there and get yourself killed."

With that, Quill quickly finalized his tactical arrangements.
